big issue i have with invincible as a show is its both setting itself so far apart from the comic, and at the same time obsessed with keeping the comic's status quo, rendering a lot of changes obsolete in the long run.

What's the point of expanding upon Amber's character, making her an actual person and not reducing her to just Mark's girlfriend, when she ceases to exist after he gets together with Eve anyway because that's what happened in the comics.

What's the point of adding so much depth to Conquest's character with his speech, just to kill him off the exact same way with only a single line to acknowledge it.

What's the point of having Rae survive the moment she died in the comics and giving her an actual arc about retiring, when she just disappears from the plot either way with the exact same result.

What's the point of pretty much rewriting Debbie's character and completely overhauling Paul, making him an actually good person and having their relationship be genuinely healthy and frictionless, when they're just going to break up offscreen for an arbitrary reason just so she can get back together with Nolan eventually.

Idk its just so annoying watching it happen every single time. Making you think it's gonna be different but it just ends up going the exact same, just in a more roundabout way.

#so many such cases #im still . glad theyre changing a lot of things from the comic #but its so awful watching the show try to be different and then just loop back around to the status quo #like with rae and amber. im not asking to have them be main characters again #bc i know they served that role and just aren't as important anymore #im just asking for them to be acknowledged #have them appear in the background #make them react to events happening on tv #HELL they couldve made Eve go to Amber for support instead of William #she probably couldve offered more help too #idk man im so mad at this #and we didnt even get that montage of things to come like in s2 and s3 #couldve just had 2 minutes at the end showing like #Universa and Dinosaurus's human form in their cells #Damien back in the human world #Angstrom and the Technicians #a teaser for Rudy and Amanda in the Flaxan dimension #it would have taken nothing away from the finale bc so many scenes were just stretched out far too long #but we just get nothing #bc ????? fuck me for wanting to see my favorites again i guess
