Hannah learned long ago to never take what a laboring woman said personally, so it slid right off her. Helping Lis to steady herself, Hannah nodded. "Just like that. Let it all out, honey. You are doing a great job, I am proud of you. You will be meeting your baby so, so soon." Rubbing her patient's back, Hannah smiled softly. "Do you want to be checked, see where you're at? Otherwise I will see you in a few hours, okay?"
her head shot up at the time frame. "a few hours?" lis was flabbergasted by the time period given to think there was so much time before her doctor gave her another look. she could feel tears welling in her eyes but maybe it would be a good thing for her to not know where she was right now - the results could be off putting. "right..." the woman leaned back so she was on her heels. !how long have i actually been in here now? i've already said i don't want a c-section." being on her own, the recovery would be far much worse. maybe lis was in a bit of a panic and being dramatic... still, there was that familiar pain beginning to built up as she leaned back in towards the pillows on the bed. "ah-" one hand flew to her lower back as it was really hurting.
