yellow flickers in the dark. dry paper snips over rust, a slight draft. there was enough heat outside, but not enough light. you could not see where your tired feet were going and i could not wake up. this endless dream pulls us to some far off land. many suns and moons later, only then do we think to ask, was this all it is? all this scramble for a quiet place we never should have left. and all the pain others brought on others. the mess that was left. we tidy what we can.
