i think it’s really fun and interesting that we get like EXTREMELY minimalist backstories for the main characters of mob psycho 100. for mob and ritsu the most we really get is one defining childhood moment that shaped a lot of their childhood and relationship. for reigen we get that he?? had a quarter life crisis and became a conman? teru was a overpowered bastard and it’s vaguely implied he has absent parents. shou is probably who we get the most information for but even still it’s minimalistic.

and like it WORKS! bc when it comes to characters who do bad things, mp100 isn’t interested so much in how they got to that place, what tragic things in their life drove them to that point. it doesn’t have an interest in making them sympathetic via tragic backstory. mp100 is about making the decision to do better in the moment, and what happened before doesn’t really matter, as long as you decide to improve yourself.

the characters work bc they are defined by forward momentum, by their desires, be it for power or for personal growth. and that drive combined w entertaining personalities is more than enough to keep you engaged with the story and invested in the characters.

anyways i compiled some “getting into gamedev” resources together and figured i should share them here too in case anyone wanted them…?? most of these are specific to unity so if you were thinking about picking it up or wanted more resources on it well here you go (also heads up most of the youtube links have an autoplay video when you click on them!!):

game makers toolkit is just now starting a series about them learning how to make games as a complete beginner (at least on the technical side), if youve never made a game before but wanted to, following along with this might be a nice place to start since you’ll both be starting from the same place (theres also a ton of videos on his channel about the actual game design side of things)

brackeys is no longer active but they have a ton of great unity videos. has a few “build a game from scratch” videos that are great to follow along to just learn the workflow and get started 

mix and jam takes things from other games and recreates them in unity and documents the whole process, a Really good way to learn things for me 

ilheartgamedev pretty recently popped up, and their videos have been really good ! 

sebastian lague goes over some more advanced stuff but also documents and walks through everything really well, really great videos and fun to follow along even if you have no idea what hes talking about. he also has a few that are like “build a game from scratch”

gamedevguide is another good unity tutorial channel

catlikecoding is text based and has a lot of good unity tutorials

and these are more for the visual/shader side of things

harry avakis has a ton of good shader tutorials plus does a big collection of technical art and vfx every week

ronja does some reallyy great and comprehensive shader tutorials

minionsart has a bunch of little bite sized shader tutorials that are great to follow along with

simon schreibt has a huge collection of vfx resources and techniques across different engines

alan zucconi also makes great tutorials, some of them a bit more on the advanced side

A while back there was a post on an anaonymous cofessions about about a person who said whenever she sees a thin woman ordering a diet soda she just gives em a regular bc they dont “need to be dieting.”

Every coffee shop I have EVER worked in had at least one barista who would regularly change orders without the customer’s knowledge or permission, for reasons like

she doesn’t need to be dieting

Ugh, non dairy milk is so hard to steam, and drinking soy is a fad anyway

Life is short, eat the damn cheese bitch, it won’t kill you

I’d have to go open another bag of the gluten-free, and I don’t wanna walk all the way to the back room to go get it

At least once, I caught it maybe 3 seconds from disaster- someone with a life-threatening dairy allergy had ordered a soy latte. She told me at the register that it was a deadly allergy. I even wrote on the cup “ALLERGY- NO DAIRY”.

I caught the barista in question rolling her eyes and saying under her breath, “skinny bitches and their fake allergies, trying to get shit for free” (this particular coffee shop had a policy where a dairy allergy meant you didn’t pay the extra fee for non-dairy milk).

I saw the barista rinsing the dairy pitcher, put 2+2 together, and yelled out to the customer to stop her. She hadn’t started drinking yet, but she did lick the drips on the lid- she still needed her Epi-Pen and to go to the hospital.

Suffice to say that barista was fired on the spot… but there are many more people like that. Far too many.

Make the food/drinks people order, the way they fucking order them.

Even if she had just been trying to save the 50 cents…. so what?

Don’t bet people’s lives on your decisions.

So I recently found out I’m caffeine intolerant and suffer from tachycardia when drinking coffee. Not giving me decaf could trigger a much worse heart condition if the circumstances are right, like a heart attack, which can be deadly.

i haven’t heard the word “cyberstalking” in a long time but it used to be a recognizably bad thing to stalk someone online, to try to dig up everything you can on them, follow their every move online, obsessively post about them, barrage them with messages, block evade, etc - but now it’s just normalized and seen as something totally “ok” to do if the person in question is “problematic” in some way - like the same people who say “if your partner does this run” will turn around and do the same thing to a stranger online they dont even know and they don’t even think twice - it’s abuse, it’s harassment… just stop it

@crystalthecool for the most part just keeping awareness up helps. Making it a big deal and pointing out just how fucked up it is actually does help put it into perspective for the Filipinos who have no idea just how serious the situation is (mainly because awareness and education are so lacking that most Filipinos don’t even know what the CHR does and will just parrot Duterte when he says he doesn’t like it)

The budget hasn’t been finalized but with Duterte’s well documented vendetta against Human Rights and his friendship with the Marcos family aka the reason the Human Rights Commission was created in the first place after Ferdinand Marcos stole billions during a two decade Martial Law era which saw the torture, disappearance and death of thousands of Filipinos we’re not very optimistic about it.
