I want someone with more fiction writing ability and genre awareness (and like, motivation and time) than I have to write a book about motherhood in a dystopia, but as the book progresses it turns out it's just our regular American world and she has really severe anxiety but also you start to think "huh this is actually pretty dystopian, and maybe she's not entirely wrong 🤔"

Maybe this book already exists. There are no new ideas under the sun. But I thought it would be a good idea and I'm telling you to get it made (in a way I like).

I'm really excited because I think we can get a backyard studio structure to be my office and to move our treadmill to without really losing any functional yard space, and the one we're looking at also has a little attic-style partial loft my big kid is interested in using as his special reading place.

In my ultimate dream world we could add a tiny half bath but obviously plumbing out to a second structure is a whole other project we aren't actually doing!!!

I stayed up too late reading, like a real fool. But I have library books that'll be due in 10-14 days so in a way I'm being extremely productive, getting through that pile!

I might be totally wrong about time, but didn't the animated Moana come out like seven years ago? Why are they already making a live action version of it when it's basically brand new?

(If the live action version is actually like a year old and the animated version is fifteen years old I guess we'll know how out of the loop I am about children's media! But I still stand by my point.)

I'm very close to entering grades but I haven't quite finished. It's good to finish because then you're on break but IT IS WHAT IT IS I GUESS.

My big kid (age 6) is in wilderness survival day camp this week and I'm possibly even more obsessed with it than he is. Today they made both tarp and natural shelters!!! When he's older, there's an intermediate wilderness survival camp and another one they offer called something like "fish, forage, fire" which also sounds great, obviously. I was hoping he'd love it and so far it seems to be going pretty well. I told him he can help keep us safe when we backpack this summer.

My dad was in surgery this morning to re-fix the same issue he had in December (which was ulcers on his liver--you don't need to memorize my blog lol) and even though it all looked fine obviously it's stressful to wait while someone has a somewhat major operation!

My smaller kid and I came to the hospital coffee shop to hang with my mom while she waited, and she got a call while we were here with her. She said hi then just listened silently with the most serious face she has. I was watching her face so intently to get any clue about what she was hearing, and her face was SO SERIOUS I was internally freaking out!!! But they were just telling her it went well and faster than anticipated and he's in recovery already.

Anyway that was a real emotional journey for me. But everything is looking good!

My new Garmin said my VO2 max was "poor" today on our little hike, and I've been extremely tired, even though I feel like I am able to do my normal fitness stuff more or less, so I wonder if I'm just not getting enough oxygen still since I had pneumonia and that's why I'm so tired (like, sleepy tired) since I've gone back to ballet and jogging etc.?

On today's run I successfully moved into the very bottom of "fair" for VO2 max, so high five for myself.

I went tonight to see a play at a community theater, because an acquaintance was in it. I went in pretty blind, not at all familiar with the play (Lynn Nottage's Intimate Apparel), and a little nervous that maybe it wouldn't be good, because it's a very small community theater and I know my acquaintance not to have a background in plays (we had discussed it several times during the rehearsal process). But it was really good! I keep saying this but I love live theater! The audience experiencing it together in real time is so moving. And it was a very small community theater which as I said makes me nervous, but all six actors were really good in their roles! I thought it was so well done. I'm really happy I got to go see that.

I also just learned that another nearby community theater is doing Sunday in the Park with George but it ends soon and I don't think I'll be able to figure out going to see it, which is a bummer! But I didn't know they were doing it until today so that's on me.

My kid's school celebrated a couple of weeks ago four staff members who got college degrees by having them put on their caps and gowns and parade around the school with all the kids clapping for them and giving them high fives, and I just think that's the sweetest and most special thing to do to celebrate the accomplishments of your school community!

Three were graduating with bachelor's degrees, including my kid's long-term sub, and one teacher with a master's. One of the staff was himself an alum of our school district, which was even cooler, I thought.

I think graduation season is very special! I'm a big sap.

I'm testing myself by parking the new car in a parking garage. Will I be able to find it again? Stay tuned to find out!

Our new to us car has functional climate controls. It has an automatic trunk! It has so many things we haven't had before! It's extremely exciting even though obviously we have much less money now than we did this morning.

I think we found a workaround. Our newest car has been a 2010 so we are really unclear on car technology these days 😂

It looks like we're about to replace one of our cars and spending all this money makes me want to throw up!!! Even though we've been saving for this very specific purpose for a long time!!!

We bought a new to us car!!! I am pleased and also it's so much money to spend. It'll be great to have it though and it'll be great to have less stress about when our old car will fail.
