Spent the day with these crazy creatures.
Felt super privileged to get so up close and personal with them. They are amazing birds. They come to the Cape to breed and once those white fluffy babies are about 4 months old they migrate to Australia ( a journey that only about 20% of them survive!) After a couple of years they fly back to their same colony in little old NZ to breed.
Oh, and they mate for life. Adorable.

So I haven't posted in yonks.
Much has been going on and nothing all at the same time. We took a little trip to the South Island for a wedding which was gorge. We stayed at an incredible spot in Queenstown and the above pic is the view from our suite.
Not too shabby to wake up to that view let me tell you.
Xmas has flown by and we have just rung in the New Year. What a year it has been too. Adjusting to life in the country has mostly been all ups and hardly any downs.
Our journey so far has rewarded us with new friends, incredible surroundings and strength in knowing that the choices thus far made were all as they should be and yet more.
Here's to a cracker of a new year and to learning more about ourselves and our place within our world.

The incredible setting for a friend's wedding down south just near Wanaka is this picturesque place. Lake Hawea.

One of the youngest guests at the wedding but also one of the MOST fabulous dancers...here she is en pointe, something that occurred frequently as the night wore on. Not bad for a three year old.
New Zealand's native Kowhai which we are lucky to have growing in our front garden. Love it.
So here's a bonus.
The few times I have tried cider I found it cheap and gross tasting which my husband tells me is simply because the cider brands I imbibed WERE cheap and gross. A few months ago I tried an apple and elderflower organic cider that was beyond delicious and fell in love a little bit.
Long story short: we were having a BBQ at our place where I was serving the above mentioned love cider and my neighbour goes "you know you have all the ingredients to make this" and I'm like what?
Like I know we have a few apple trees; but it seems that pretty red hedge in our driveway just happens to be all elderflower.
Yeehah!
