Do you like other battles in the civil war or just Gettysburg?
I'm interested in the civil war entirely. Everything that happened during the war interests me greatly. But Gettysburg definitely interests me the most. So far, it is the battle I know the most about. Although I want to learn as much as I possibly can about everything that occurred during the war.
Why do you like Gettysburg so much?
The amazing history that surrounds the place just completely blows me away. When you’re there, it’s like stepping back in time. Just standing on the battlefield you can picture how everything happened. It’s so clear that I always half expect a soldier to pop up somewhere or to hear the sound of gunshots. Then of course all of the amazing reenactors and just people who live there that are so passionate about it as well make it amazing. So many events that unfolded in and around that small town changed the course of history forever and that just fascinates me to no end. Also, I am of course very interested in the paranormal. So Gettysburg is a hotspot for all of that activity. It’s just almost an honor to know that I can go there and walk the same ground that so many amazing soldiers once did. I can walk Pickett’s Charge, I can stand on Little Round Top. It’s just all so interesting and so amazing to me. Plus it’s so refreshing to see such a part of our history preserved and remembered. I just love it! :)Plus it's not too far of a drive for me.

The United States Sanitary Commission was founded in 1861 as the American Civil War began. Its purpose was to promote clean and healthy conditions in the Union Army camps. The Sanitary Commission staffed field hospitals, raised money, provided supplies, and worked to educate the military and government on matters of health and sanitation.

Watching Gettysburg.
I miss that place so much. Watching the movie again is really just making my heart ache even more. I want to go back there so bad.
All these thousands of men. Many of them not much more than boys. Each one of them some mother’s son, some sister’s brother, some daughter’s father. Each one of them a whole person loved and cherished in some home far away. Many of them will never return. An army is power. Its entire purpose is to coerce others. This power can not be used carelessly or recklessly. This power can do great harm. We have seen more suffering than any man should ever see, and if there is going to be an end to it, it must be an end that justifies the cost. Now, somewhere out there is the Confederate army. They claim they are fighting for their independence, for their freedom. Now, I can not question their integrity. I believe they are wrong but I can not question it. But I do question a system that defends its own freedom while it denies it to an entire race of men. I will admit it, Tom. War is a scourge, but so is slavery. It is the systematic coercion of one group of men over another. It has been around since the book of Genesis. It exists in every corner of the world, but that is no excuse for us to tolerate it here when we find it right infront of our very eyes in our own country. As God as my witness, there is no one I hold in my heart dearer than you. But if your life, or mine,is part of the price to end this curse and free the Negro, then let God’s work be done.
