“Maybe if people stopped reacting all together they’ll realize they’re not as funny as they think. Each day makes me more excited for college.”

“What? You came here,” she pointed out. Priya felt herself blushing at his question, knowing answering it would only lead to trouble. “I think we’re alone. Why?”

“I was walking Buster!” He countered. Finally pulling back, he allowed his hands to rest on her sides and he wiggled a brow. “How long do we have to be alone, exactly?”

“Absolutely nothing,” she said, holding up her hands. The kiss caught her off guard – it had happened a few times with him in particular, but the last time she actually had a boy in her house kissing her was… well. Never. She let it happen though. Just like she always did, to a certain point.

“Liar.” Seth teased accusingly. Resting his hand on her lower back, he gently tugged her closer as he kept his lips on hers. “Is anyone here?” He asked, keeping his eyes closed before he refocused on continuing to kiss her.

“Past cocky,” she corrected, smiling. “So now Buster is Jesus? You know what, actually, I agree. – Yup. What are you gonna do about it?”

“Just what’re you trying to do here?” He asked as he lulled his head to one side with a smirk on his lips. “I was hoping you would, because I think so too. I could prove you wrong, or I could do this.” And with that, he stepped closer, and reached to tip her chin up before leaning down to kiss her.

“I can go a lot further than that,” she winked. “Of course. Buster is the reason we’re here, after all. – But that would require this to actually be spontaneous.”

“How far are we talking? Like past cheek?” He pretended to be oblivious to her flirtation before winking back. “He’s always the reason for the season. -- Are you accusing that it wasn’t?”

“I’m always cheeky. I give good cheek,” she said, only slightly laughing. “Sounds good.” Priya started to pour out a glass before raising her brows. “So then why didn’t you just text me?”

“You don’t have to be so cocky about it.” He teased eventually showing her a small smile. “Thank you, thank you. I’m sure Buster thanks you too.” He gestured toward the pup. “What happened to whimsical meetings without technology interfering?”

“Right? I can’t stand people who think they’re funny. They just want attention even if it’s at the cost of everyone’s eardrums.”

“Oh, definitely. Not to mention they’re so tone deaf to their own humor they don’t even realize the only one laughing is their damn selves. There should be a way to separate all those people into one classroom from people who actually wanna listen to the lesson.”

“The words I think he used were involuntary wingman?” She teased, nudging him with her leg since Buster was still in her arms. “Well take your pick. We’ve got water, lots of almond milk. Sangria. Just kidding, my mom would disown me for that. Everything else is still good, though.”

“Oh, you’re getting cheeky now? Alright.” Seth leaned to nudge her back with his shoulder as he followed her. “I think I’m good with just water. -- By the way, he’s still not my wingman. I can make all of this--” He gestured between them. “Happen on it’s own.”

Laughing, she held Buster up to Seth’s nose for him to lick before looking at the little guy’s face. “Is that true? Did you miss me? – Ah.” Trying to keep a straight face, she looked back at Seth with a smile. “He said he came here for a business meeting, and that you’re full of it. You know anything about that?” Pressing her lips together, she nodded back towards the house. “He also said he wants a drink of water so we’re going inside. You coming?”

Seth found it difficult to keep his frown when Buster was licking his nose, but he managed. “No, I don’t. What kind of business meeting? Swapping owners perhaps?” He pointed accusingly as he narrowed his eyes at the pup. “I’m coming, but only because I’m thirsty too.” He finally cracked a smile as he folded his arms.

Giggling to herself before she turned around, she scooped Buster up in her arms before shrugging apologetically. “The heart wants what it wants, I guess. What are you guys doing in Southbank? Because I know it’s not for the scenery.”

Seth pursed a much more dramatic frown than necessary before giving a shrug. Deciding to play it cool, he pointed to the street. “Listen, I just went where he lead me. So you better ask him, not me.”

“Oh, he has. It just hadn’t been a teacher yet. I just hope no one tries to fill in for him while he’s away. I might actually snap if I hear a fish make a shitty joke while we’re supposed to be on break from that idiot.” 

“I swear it’s people like him that make going to school or going out in public the worst. It’s like they don’t even comprehend they’re making it miserable for everyone around them. Gotta make you wonder about their inner psyche.”

Since it was relatively nice outside, Priya had promised to help her mom plant some flowers in the front yard. About halfway through her mom had been called in to the restaurant, and Priya decided to finish planting as a nice surprise for her when she got back. She’d just finished the azaleas when she felt a presence behind her. A short one. Turning, her face lit up at the familiar sight of her new favorite dog, who was calmly sniffing her. “Well, hello there.” Frowning, she picked up his leash, which did not seem to be attached to an owner. “Where’s your dad?” She smiled, peering down closely at Buster while he licked her face.

As Buster lead Seth closer to Priya’s house, he could tell the dog recognized her. The loose grip on his leash didn’t help when he jetted off from Seth all together, leaving him to chase after him. Out of breath, he leaned his palms against his thighs. “Are you kidding me? He really does love you more than me.” He finally said as he approached them before laughing.

When Seth usually walked Buster he more or less kept closer in the Northlake area, only today... he decided to venture to the south side in hopes he could catch a glimpse of Priya. Remembering where he’d dropped her off after their... meet up of sorts. It was a long shot considering he hadn’t actually texted her about it, but he’d never been good at communication, anyway. So as nonchalantly as possible he let his mutt guide him through the streets, playing it chill whenever Buster stopped to smell a new tree.

“Yikes, I’m kind of surprised he hadn’t done anything to piss anyone off sooner. Talk about dumb luck.”

“Remember that annoying freshman I was telling you about last week, the one in my art class. Yeah, he finally got suspended. Apparently, all it took was for him to offer to prostitute himself to the sub. I honestly can’t fathom the stupidity of some people.”

“Me, having any suggestions? Boy, if I’m being honest, I’m the biggest horror film geek you could ever imagine.” Alicia smiled, hoping the other wouldn’t find her comment strange. “I’ve got the biggest collection you could possibly imagine. Are you feeling a slasher, zombie flick, home invasion, torture - any preference in mind?”

“Really?” Seth’s expression lightened up, finding he was intrigued at the girl’s admission. “Those are so many good sub genres. What about slasher or home invasion?”

“Consistent and reliable are probably the better adjectives to use,” she shrugged. “Well, only the really good ones. You know Al Pacino was out of bed every morning by nine? Oh, I get it. You’re vanilla.”

“Yet here I am saying persistent.” Seth teased before smiling. “I guess organized crime never sleeps, so I get it. I’m not, but you’re presumptuous. If you wanna know what I’m into so badly you could just hookup with me instead.”
