“Make way! We’re coming through!” Had a little cross traffic on the way up to Iceberg Lake today. It’s always a treat to see some of the larger animals surprise you on an already beautiful trek. (at Iceberg Lake)

A lot of wildfires in 2017 have been in the news due to their prominent locations: Yosemite, Glacier, Columbia Gorge, Eagle Creek and so on. However, we drove right passed the largest wildfire and top wildfire prioroty in the national on the way to GNP this trip. This was the scene for literally hours of driving. To see the way tohe entire area had been taken over by fire and rescue teams was surreal.

#GNP is not very pretty this trip. Fires within the park and across the state have made visibility extremely poor. We awoke this morning with a little coating of ash on the car. Most wildlife appears to have moved on to other regions. Only saw two grizzlies this evening. Most of the day was spent without even hearing the birds chirping. We also went through the largest Montana wildfire area, the Rice Ridge Fire in Seeley Lake, MT which has burned well over 100,000 acres. They had a relief camp setup with hundreds of tents, natl guardsmen, and a large community coming together. Reminded me a lot of what we’ve been seeing neighbors doing for each other on Houston.

The very natural and colorful rocks in Lake McDonald. You just can't imagine how colorful they are until you see them in person.
