lol ive spent the last decade hiding my weed smoking from my parents and this week they're in town for my birthday and came over for dinner last night and i just... left all my weed shit out. all 3 bongs, 3oz of flower in labeled jars, dab rig with an enail right on my desk, cart full of paraphenalia. and my dad sort of gave me the stink eye at first but other than that literally nothing happened. absolute power move

there's a lot of disc horse on this site that's physically painful to bear witness to as a STEM major but probably the most egregious one is the old chestnut that alexa and other smart house devices would be good without capitalism and saying otherwise is ableist. the Internet of Things is a fucking nightmare of a paradigm that has brought naught but suffering and most of that is related to security flaws that would still very much be exploited with or without capitalism. the moldovan hacker building a botnet using your samsung smart fridge with the default password lg123 does not give a flying fuck what the law says and never will.

i also saw a post just now saying the solution is to simply make it illegal to record your data from smart devices and use it for advertisement, which, lol? amazon is going to keep doing it anyways because nobody is providing oversight and when they eventually get caught the fine will be a slap on the wrist relative to how much money they make off of it. the issue with alexa isn't that the wrong people are on the other end of the hackable wiretap in your house; the issue is the fucking hackable wiretap in your house in the first place.

#there is potential for good there but it's buried under way more than just capitalism

Well that's for the trigers and how some abilities interact. Basically the point is to generate more instances of lose/gain life.

Is just so comboluted in its wording, maybe if it was worded like this:

when ever you gain X life you lose X -1 life.

When ever you lose X life you gain X -1 life.

By MTG rules this effect would stop once you reach 0.

You gain 2 life, you lose (2-1) 1 life. Then you would gain 0 life but this effect would not trigger.

The same is true if someone hits you for 6 damage, you would gain (6-1) 5 life, triggering any life effects. Then lose (5-1) 4 life triggering any lose life effects over and over untill 0.

Did that made sense?
