I spend so much time carefully picking and adjusting the colors in every single drawing I make that I’d probably lose my mind if I didn’t just repeatedly push this out of my memory and pretend it’s not a thing. Why am I reblogging a blank empty post that doesn’t say anything??? Weird

good news! you can’t make sure that everyone will see the correct colors on their own device, but you can make sure your monitor is as accurate as possible for printing and sharing by calibrating it!

there are a bunch of free monitor tests, but here’s an easy one you can use. the passmark and eizo tests are also pretty good, though passmark doesn’t work in your browser. be warned that some tests may cause eye strain.

you can either use the settings built into your monitor itself or use the display color calibration settings in your operating system to adjust the settings until everything looks correct, and then enjoy your accurate colors.

one character design thing id recommend is don’t be afraid to explore drawing different body types epically when drawing exaggerated proportions. it can do a lot for simple designs and can create some fun characters

Also she has a TikTok of her doing the poses live, which is stupid useful because you can pause it at any point in the pose for just the right reference.

I started out by imitating pictures in magazines, by looking up YouTube tutorials, and by improvising a lot.

There are many types of embroidery from all over the world. If one style ends up not being your thing, you can always look into different ones.

Everyone has different learning styles, so I added different types of resources. Some of these are written articles, others are picture guides, and the rest are YouTube video's. That way you can look up textual descriptions if you ever get stuck while following a video.

Cross stitching:

If you don't like all these fancy stitches, you could also try your hand at cross stitching! It requires more focus (in my experience) as it involves a lot of counting, but the base stitch itself is easier.

Here’s a “life-hack” for you. Apparently concentrated Kool-Aid can be used as a pretty effective leather dye. I was making a drink while cutting the snaps off some new straps for my pauldrons and I got curious, so I tried it, thinking, “ok even if this works, it will just wash out.” Nope. It took the “dye” (undiluted) in about 3 seconds. After drying for about an hour and a half, it would not wash off in the hottest tap-water. It would not wash out after soaking for 30 minutes. It did not wash out until I BOILED it, and even then, only by a tiny bit and it gave it a weathered look that was kind of cool. Add some waterproofing and I’d wager it would survive even that. That rich red is only one application too. Plus it smells great, lol. So there you go, cheap, fruity smelling leather dye in all the colors Kool-Aid has to offer.

If you’re dying anything with kool-aid it’s best to use SUGAR-FREE ones otherwise the thing you’re dying might get all sticky

the flavor only packets where you are supposed add sugar are the best. they will dye any natural fiber: leather, wool, cotton, hair, flax, jute, silk and so forth. heat the dye water so it is more potent. let dry then rinse excess out in cold water. there’s a whole system to this.

It’s an acid dye (it contains its own citric acid, because it’s a citrus drink!). It only binds properly to “animal proteins,” so leather/silk/wool/human hair, but not vegetable matter like cotton or linen, and not polymer products like polyester. It does need heat-setting if it’s going to be washed, so when OP washed it in hot water they fixed the dye more permanently.

The same effects are easily done with any food colouring agents (cake decorating food colouring, etc) used alongside cheap vinegar - KoolAid is just used because it’s pre-mixed and neon-toned, but this is part of the greater Food Coloring Dying Methods which themselves form part of the dying-from-edible-materials family, which included beetroot, walnuts, turmeric, tea, blueberry skins, wine and so on.
