The Annunciation Cloak shows names of every woman he wanted to take with him to heaven.
Sexypink - the divine objects called ORFA/ Objects wrapped in thread - Bispo used hospital gowns including his own where he spent most of his life after a diagnosis for paranoid schizophrenia in 1938 until his passing in 1989. The wrapping is done as a protection to keep objects safe.
Sexypink - Sheets from the psychiatric hospital that became his home, Bispo created imagined worlds.
Sexypink - Using stitching and writing, Bispo creates a personal hieroglyphics that can be read symbolically. He also adds names, dates and events.
Sexypink - a detail of Bispo’s own striking ‘ uniforms’ that shows incredible details of text and image personal to his religious, psychic beliefs. The cloak was made for ‘ judgement day’ preparing his meeting with God.

July also was a month to say goodbye to two icons of Trinidad and Tobago’s Arts and Cultural history. Paul ‘ Bill’ Trotman, Calypsonian and Artist and Venezuelan based Abstract Ceramicist and Sculptor Valerie Brathwaite. REST IN PEACE and thank you for your decades of work.
Rafael Chavez, Brazilian Potter’s first solo show and paintings is a must to watch.
Caribbean Painters and St.Kittishian Painter Hasani Clayton were also great new finds for sexypink. It is always such a boon to see the strong work from the smallest islands.
Curator Adeline Gregoire took us on a delightful Martiniquais journey to the Pool Art Fair. As Anjeni Ramtahal, Curator, entrepreneur and cultural strategist’s platform LES ILES focuses on connecting Caribbean Artists with international audiences.
Finally the group show NEW Gen opened at Shoppes of Maraval, Trinidad. Featured were the works of twenty one Artists under 25.
