What do you consider right and wrong in relationships and in life? / #1145.

in relationships, i think honesty is huge. not just telling the truth when it's convenient, but being honest even when the conversation is uncomfortable. i think loyalty matters, respect matters, and treating someone's heart like it's something valuable matters. if you care about someone, you shouldn't make them constantly question where they stand with you. communication isn't always easy, but i'd rather have a difficult conversation than let misunderstandings grow into something bigger. what's wrong? manipulation, cruelty, betrayal, and intentionally hurting people. everyone makes mistakes, but there's a difference between making a mistake and knowingly doing something that you know will break someone's trust. in life in general, i think the right thing is usually trying to leave people better than you found them. being kind when you don't have to be, taking responsibility when you're wrong, staying humble enough to learn from other people. i don't think success means much if you become someone you don't respect in the process. one thing i've learned over the years is that everybody is fighting battles you can't see. so even when someone frustrates me, i try to remember that. you can be honest, have boundaries, stand up for yourself, and still treat people with compassion. at the end of the day, i don't think being a good person means being perfect. i think it means trying your best to do the right thing, owning it when you don't, and continuing to grow from it.

no, i haven't. i've made mistakes in relationships, sure. i've handled things badly, avoided difficult conversations longer than i should have, and hurt people without meaning to, but cheating is one line i've never crossed. if i'm unhappy in a relationship, i'd rather have an uncomfortable conversation than be dishonest. it might suck in the moment, but i think people deserve the truth.

i think i'm somewhere in the middle. i definitely crave it, i'm a pretty affectionate person with the people i trust. a hug from the right person can say more than a whole conversation sometimes. but i wouldn't say i give that part of myself away easily. if i don't know someone well, i'm usually a little more reserved. it's not really fear, it's just that touch means something to me. i think the older i've gotten, the more i've realized that the best kind of affection isn't about how often it happens, it's about who it's coming from.

my first instinct is no. not because it's impossible, but because friendships matter a lot to me, and i'd never want someone i care about to feel betrayed or blindsided. even if a relationship is over, there are usually feelings, history, and complications that don't just disappear overnight.

my friends would probably say my flirting style is just "accidentally turning a normal conversation into a three hour deep talk." i'm not really the guy who's walking into a room with a bunch of rehearsed lines or trying to impress someone. if i like you, i get curious. i'll ask a million questions, remember random details you mentioned three weeks ago, and somehow end up talking about childhood memories, music, fears, dreams, and random facts by the end of the night.

bro, card games. i don't even know when it happened, but if we're sitting around playing cards, something switches on in my brain and suddenly I'm treating it like the world championship. also, this is embarrassing, but anything involving random challenges with friends. who can get to the car first, who knows the lyrics better, who can guess a song in the first second. it's never serious, but for some reason i always want to win. then the second i lose, i act like i'm totally fine with it while immediately demanding a rematch.

honestly? seeing the people i love happy, it sounds simple, but it's true. my family, my friends, people at shows singing their hearts out, even strangers having a good day. and dogs, dogs have a 100% success rate. doesn't matter if i'm stressed, exhausted, or having the worst day imaginable. show me a dog running around like it owns the world and i'll be smiling in about two seconds.

@milliebubbybrown. she's one of those people i know i can call no matter what's going on. if i need advice, someone to make me laugh, or just someone to listen while i ramble about something that's been on my mind, she's always there. life gets busy for both of us, but she's the kind of person who never makes you feel like you're facing something alone.
