This is so specific but im absolutely in love with the way you draw hands. They feel really "solid" for lack of a better term, i love the way you stylize them. Do you have any tips? I know there are a million online tutorials but i always end up with either "generic dainty anime hand" or "too realistic and now it looks weird in this stylized drawing"
Thank you! I don't think there is anything particularly special about the way I draw hands, other than that I try to have them match the character - Astarion's hands are bonier and lanky, DU drow's hands are more square-ish and his digits are sort of "stubby", Henry's and Hans' hands are visibly more "normal" looking than that of either of the former, fantasy characters. I am less concerned with stylizing them in any particular way than I am with making them unique to their owner - when the framing allows for any detail to be added to them, of course - If a character is way in the background or things like movement/gesture take precedence over distinguishing features, you will see my hands turn into noodly 5-pronged forks. I am fine with that.
I have this old tutorial on hands that touches specifically on how I structure them. The character-per-character stylization is, of course, something that will depend on what you're going for, but hopefully that has given you some pointers!

sometimes i wonder if we have forgotten that sharing creative work is, fundamentally, a bid for human connection. like I'm not posting art or fic for 'engagement' i'm posting it looking for other sickos to play with! i'd be making it anyway for my own gratification because there's something wrong with me, i'm sharing it hoping we can have something wrong with us together <3
twitter is good for showing me how they do things to hedgehogs for example anesthesia & x-rays
i cant fucjing belive this i was just about to be like "youd love lunacid, the cover is so your style" AND OH MY GOD
Hahah no way, that’s awesome. Thanks! Everyone go play Kira’s masterpiece if you haven’t yet 🌘u🌘

Hello, today is my birthday! 🥳 Im here to humbly ask you for any art tips you have off the top of your head about how you are able to make such expressive poses and faces. I literally wanna print your art out and eat it it looks so amazing! And also what your creative process is for your story ideas, they are always so cute. literally never fails
Happy B-Day!
Oof, you asked a hard but also a fun question. I have learned art mostly by myself and I don't really umm know what all my art stages are.
But on the top of my head: sketch with a bigger brush than what you are going to use with the lineart. Like, I usually make my lineart with a 10px size brush, so I sketch with a 15px or 17px art. Then it kinda forces you to make things more vaguely. More shapely. Can't do details well.
Then I switch to either 10px or like 12px brush to make a more detailed sketch so I can make sure the pose works. Like uhh
And when I am coming up with what to draw, I tend to sketch things out multiple ideas before I find the vibe I am going for. That is also easier when you use the bigger brush you know you are not going to be using for the final piece anyway. Be comfortable deleting a sketch and doing it again. The first thing don't need to be the final thing.
My ideas come to me whether I liked it or not. My brain just is on creative mode 24/7 if I am not dead tired or depressed etc. I go through lot of ideas that I either "well maybe I'll do them one day" or "I have to sketch this out NOW".
With faces, at first I sketch out the "vibe" of the expression. The end result might change along the way tbh but that's ok! A sketch is just a suggestion in the end
Tf2 has taught me to look at cheek bones and jaws more. The face moves a lot when we do faces so the first step is to be comfortable to "change" the face shape when doing expressions. It doesn't matter if you draw them "wrong" when sketching, too. You are just making shapes to support the final uhh face.
Like, here:
Medic's resting bitch face is pretty handsome. Like he is conventionally attractive. Long face, strong jaw etc.
And then he moves his face and suddenly he can look pretty goofy
And also, look at references A LOT. Like, all the time. Even with the little things. I have traced Sniper's van more times that I can count. Fuck drawing cars. Maybe I will be able to draw them one day but won't bother with simple fanart
Ahem, anyway. I don't know if this is anything. I hope it is
I hope you've had a great birthday!!
And thank you for the kind words ;____;
