We are back to bread and roses.

It's not about how many times bread or roses are mentioned--it's about the association! Just like 'soup'. Or 'smut'. No matter how many times people eat soup in the books, it will always be associated with Feysand. It's not about 'well, the word bread was in the books for 125 times and therefore..." What? The bread baker is Elain. Her recovery is connected specifically to bread baking. Her life in Prythian is connected to cooking and baking--unlike anyone else's in the IC. She is obviously positioned as 'the keeper of the hearth', and will be associated with Life.

If a character enters a seemingly empty house, in a strange land, and the first thing they smell is bread and roses, why do you think it's emphasized in the book?

SJM could've just said--'the air smelled like jasmine' (though Elain smells like jasmine as well...it's almost like she really does belong in the Night Court), or nothing. She could've said 'the house was warm and children were heard outside' (like she did in ACOMAF) but she decided on those two specific words. And Bryce, much like Feyre, could've pondered 'oh, they have children in Hel?'

This is an author who assigns specific scents to all of her MCs. Scents are never accidental with her. It is what it is.
