I spent three hours talking to my friend on call. I told her about the struggles I've faced lately and she didn't know what to say. That's the thing. People never know what to say in difficult situations. I am people too. But I've learned that my awkwardness is not nearly important compared to their vulnerability of sharing what they did and their suffering of dealing with what they are. So I speak. I usually start off by saying I don't know what to say but I just want to let you know that....and then it proceeds as per the situation. Whatever comes straight from my heart. And often it's not life changing or even problem solving. But rarely is it silly or offensive. It may not help my friend but it will make them feel heard. And maybe make them smile. And these two things may feel like nothing but being on the other side of it now I know it means much more than awkward silence and I'm sorry I don't know how to react. In the end we all have to deal with the big stuff on our own. I have accepted that. But little things can make one feel like if they want to pause and rest they have warm shelters of caring friends who will make them their comfort food and make them laugh. What else can we do than hold their baggage for a little while and make them feel that they can breathe better for a few minutes there? So do it. Keep aside your awkwardness and say it. I'm not saying be inconsiderate or stupid. But just say what you'd like to hear if roles were reversed. And don't lose sight of what the person is actually saying. Don't make assumptions. Just hear them. And if you really listen, you'll find at least one thing you can say sincerely. One thing that can make them not regret telling you what they did. Just one thing.

My sadness has become implosive . It all happens inside now and I can just go on with my day just smiling and laughing and doing my job but I am shaking and whimpering inside . And now I feel like my person is not interested anymore on the things that I say that he would rather just go through his twitter while I’m talking to him, which hurts more , because he’s my go to and my safe place , the person I’m most comfortable with . I’m not anything special , nobody’s scared to lose me , I already know that . But for once , I just want to feel like I am not replaceable .

I was raised to figure things out on my own. I grew up not asking help from anyone. Maybe this explains a portion of why I don’t ask for help unless offered or genuinely forced . Sometimes , it just feels nice when someone is there during your state of vulnerability and helplessness .
