âBecause youâre all lit up, i start thinking about your life and, um, and one thing Iâve learned by looking out at this many people, is that Iâm looking out at forty five thousand people who have an individual set of hopes, dreams, fears, wishes - every single person here. And every single person here has something that theyâre afraid or has something that theyâre trying to block out in the back of their mind, whether itâs somebody who five years ago told you that you werenât cool or that you were annoying, somebody who didnât invite you to something, somebody you loved who turned around one day and changed their mind and said âI donât want to be with you anymoreâ and you canât get it out of your head. Or maybe itâs just the voice in your own head saying, like, 'you donât look awesome todayâ and itâs absolutely - itâs absolutely extraordinary that we are all walking around with these fears and with these insecurities and what I find to be the most extraordinary is that every single person here decided today, Iâm not going to let my mistakes or my insecurities keep me from going to a concert and dancing all night and having the best time in the world. Oh, I am proud of you for that 'cause the thing about mistakes that people will tell you all the time - but the fact is a lot of clichĂŠs are true - you cannot live your live your life without making mistakes. The only thing you can control is how you handle them afterward. The only thing you can do is make sure your mistakes are ones you will never make again, that your lessons are lessons that you have learned and you will not repeat. No one can ever blame you for making new mistakes because that means youâre taking risks. The only time when mistakes will take you down a notch is if they become your behavior pattern and you donât learn from them and we let them become our identity but I donât think - I donât think that youâre going to do that. I donât think youâre going to let your mistakes be ghosts that haunt you because youâre here tonight, arenât you? And so weâre gonna go out and weâre gonna go make the rest of the mistakes weâre gonna make for the rest of our lives. Weâre gonna hope that we donât make too many of the same ones and, um, weâre not gonna be defined by them and weâre gonna remember tonight and weâre gonna be more kind to ourselves, arenât we, Vancouver? Living your life, making mistakes does not make you damaged or tarnished or anything like that. I think that they make you wiser and they make you smarter and stronger and in the end, we become the opposite of tarnished. I think making mistakes and learning from them makes you Clean.â
