Hope felt his face go red as he looked away from the girl, covering his face with some of his hand, and hoping he wasn’t the bright red shade that was his hair. That’d be even more embarrassing…. Well, actually, no.. She wouldn’t be able to see it anyways… Why did his creator even make it possible for his face to heat up in embarrassment anyways? More lifelike, he supposed, though it was something he could live without…

Well, those thoughts aside, he really hoped Jessa would just drop the matter. He didn’t know what he was trying to say anyways to her. Thank God his sisters weren’t around, Viva would have a field day with this.

As soon as the words left his mouth, “I like you”, he had said, she tuned out the rest of his babbles. Jessa could hardly believe it, Hope liked her? Of all people, Hope cared for her, the blind orphan. Her thoughts came from all directions flying in and out, how was she to react to this? Did he like her in the way friends liked each other? Did he like her because of her talents? Did he like her in the way Kendra had liked her? She desperately wished in that moment that her eyes were able to see.

It would make things so much easier, she was sure if she could see his face she would know exactly what he meant. Jessa had heard of people being able to communicate through their eyes alone, and she envied anyone who was able to see the world around them.

“Never mind, forget it.”

She picked up the last of his little speel, and her heart seemed to ache inside her chest. Why would he spring something like that on her, and then suddenly take it away. Hope was so strange, very kind, but strange. Determined to not let the topic die so quickly, Jessa reached gently for his face.

“Hope… wh-what do you mean? Wh-when you say that you l-like me?”

If he had a heart, he knew it would’ve started racing the moment she’d made contact with his face, and he hoped more than anything that she couldn’t feel the hotness of his face right now.

What did he mean exactly? He liked her, but in what way exactly. What made her different from all the other humans he had met through centuries of his lifetime? She was like any others, looked the same, there was nothing significantly different about her.

Except to him, she was so much different than others, and he felt if he were without her, nothing would matter anymore.

So, what does he mean…?

“Ah,” he muttered out, looking away from her for a moment, avoiding looking at her. “Well, I… Honestly, I’m not too.. sure.. I can’t really describe it.. It’s confusing…”

Gods, he hoped she didn’t take that wrong..

His face was warm, slightly warmer than usual, perhaps he was blushing? That would be something! Hope blushing, the thought made her heart race suddenly, and she had to control her breathing slightly to calm down. It did not work obviously.

“Y-you are confused?”

Her voice was barely a whisper, but she knew he could hear it, he could always hear her. If he was confused about these feelings that he felt for her, then did it matter if she herself was confused as well?
