Running late had been a typical habit of the younger Rhodes the more he was allowed to relish in the spoils of his life --- spending more time with Brandi, his brother ( despite all the problems that culminated in the bloodiest battle of their careers ), and even Pharaoh. Cody is genuinely, honestly, living his BEST life, but it was time to get back to work. There's a revolution on the horizon and Cody's at the forefront alongside his best friends, the brave men and women that made up the A.EW roster, the people behind the scenes. A.EW is a FAMILY --- and Cody is going to dedicate his LIFE to nurturing it. If he could show up on time, that is. Home was just too good, especially these days, and he got a little caught up in it today. There'd been an apology on his tongue as he pushed open the office door --- but it was just Matt, and he quickly enveloped the younger brother in a tight hug.

❝ Hey, man, ❞ lips spread in a wide smile as the two part, a firm pat on Matt's back as Cody draws away. ❝ I have no idea, honestly. I thought they'd already be here. ❞ Phone extradicted from his pocket, he fires off a quick series of question marks to Kenny and Nick, depositing it on the table as they waited for a response. ❝ Well, Matt, I know I'm not your favorite, but you're just gonna have to deal with me until the rest show up. ❞

A wink thrown in Matt's direction before an arm lands across his shoulders. It's all playful, of course it is. It's not like Cody had once manipulated them to tear apart the Elite for his own selfish gain. Or purposefully put Matt in harm's way because he simply didn't care whether he lived or died. Or been so tormented by his own delusions he'd treated the very people closest to him now like scum, like props, nothing more than obstacles standing in the way of what he deserved. The villains to his heroic rise. That wasn't Cody at all.
