My finished pieces for @strahdzine Memento Mori, Volume 2! This was my first zine and I had a lot of fun🦇

“I will not apologize for any out of place expression,” Strahd murmured, “I did say I wasn’t feeling very well.”

“Oh, I’m sure we’ll survive,” Tatyana teased as she patted his arm, “You’re never happy anyway.”

“And there’s no point in starting now.”

Sergei laughed and rested his hand on the hilt of his sword, while Tatyana failed to hide her smile. She brushed off her wedding gown and folded her hands over her lap.

Strahd stepped a little closer, at the artist’s request, and placed his own hands behind his back before shifting on his feet. He definitely seemed less than comfortable, but even as they all settled into their poses, a small smile pulled the corner of his mouth.

It was faint and timid, but it was there, and the sight made Sergei grin.

vampire kasin is in charge of keeping the kid with sensitive skin out of the sun. he enjoys getting to watch his husband and step daughter play in the water though 😊

OP I love your art and I hope you don’t mind me adding a thought.

The reason Murderbot can just walk up to book!Pin-Lee and say hi is because it knows that she can handle it without completely losing her shit even though she’s in a stressful situation. And I love this so very much about book!Pin-Lee! She’s a super competent and confident badass lawyer who will wreck your shit with a subpoena. And she will both give Murderbot all the legal protection she can but not put up with its bullshit. She’s awesome.

i 100% agree. she’s one of my favorite characters in the books because she Gets Shit Done. the combination of pin-lee, ratthi, and gurathin in exit strategy was such a perfect group for murderbot to interact with after it reappeared bc they balance each other out so well.

Just because the cage is gilded doesn't mean it's not a cage.

Perihelion, autonomy, and the pretty little university cage it sits in.

Some notes on the design:

Delicate little golden chains are what keeps the cage up -- even though PSUMNT is a far better place than the Corporation Rim, the restraints are still there, and Peri uses a lot of under-the-radar self-modification and tax fraud as a low level of rebellion.

Peri is FAR too large for the cage, with its tail, tendrils, and ear poking out, as its coding and development have reached massive levels of intelligence.

Outer space is also trapped inside of the cage, and the planets are tiny compared to it.

Peri's eyes are closed -- it doesn't fight back against its family as openly or violent as Murderbot does against its company, even despite its 'dangerous' demeanor.

The top of the cage says "PROPERTY OF UNIVERSITY OF MIHIRA AND NEW TIDELAND" -- even if that's a way to blend into the Corporation Rim, at one point does the mask become the true intentions?

The delicateness of the cage also shows how Perihelion can "technically" leave whenever it likes, but it would lose every part of its support network and likely be hunted by the Corporation Rim or someone else -- this is reinforced by it being caught and 'killed' by the alien contamination.

Peri's Vaatu-like design that I chose REALLY lends itself to this piece -- Vaatu is canonically imprisoned for ten thousand years in Legend of Korra, and his freedom and life is dependent on a certain few humans.

Yeah. Perihelion. I'm really super extremely normal about it.
