Recent college graduate Hadley Echols finally has a job. Her first priority - find an affordable place to live. She thinks it’s hopeless until she sees an ad that at first seems like a joke: “THREE MONKS SEEK ROOMMATE.” She doesn’t know anything about monks, only that her new roomies are on a vow of silence and only communicate via text. Then there’s the slight problem of her finding one of them irresistible. To make matters worse, her new boss might be Satan incognito and her ex-flame is back.

I have read all of Shannon McCrimmon’s books and this one I love the most. Why? I love the quirkiness. I love the fun way it is written. I love just the lightheartedness of the book.

It cracked me up the geeks that Sherman, Augie and Denny were. They were adorable and sweet. Although Sherman is a grump you do see a fun snarky side to him. He is the one I can’t wait to see fall in love. Augie is adorkable. His quirky smile and sweet way just fit his personality. And his food truck was to much. He was the one you just loved to love.

Denny was the one that helped Hadley through alot just by being there. He was her rock and her ear. It was fun to watch her struggle with her feelings towards him and his vow of silence. this relationship to me was the one that grew the most. they were meant to help one another. For Hadley Denny gave her comfort, strength and support. For Denny, Hadley gave Denny a reason to see beyond what is going on in his world. She made him feel alive and free again. Their interactions were deep at times, meaningful and real. You could feel the attraction and support they had for one another. Denny’s encouragement and belief in Hadley went a long way in having her believe in herself and stand up for herself as well. You watch their relationship unfold and the struggles they have over the situation but in the end Denny and Hadley do give us a sweet ending and their interactions always have you smile and laugh.   

the vow of silence thing was a hoot as was watching Hadley interact with everyone. Her character was perfect for this role because she was so honest and open. She gave everyone the benefit of the doubt and saw the good in everyone. She had a heart of gold and watching her and Denny fall for each other while fighting their attraction was fun and entertaining.

She showed Denny how to be alive and want more. He showed her strength and support. How to stand up for herself and believe in herself. 

The whole premise of the story was light hearted and warm. You get all fuzzy inside as you watch Hadley make it on her own and fall in love with her roommate who is on a vow of silence. Denny has you feel all swoony with his support and belief in Hadley. Augie has you laugh at his quirkiness. Sherman worms his way with his grumpy cat texts. Together these four give us a quirky light hearted story that has you smile and just want more. More Hadley and her rambling. Denny and his strength, support and kindness. Augie and his adorkableness and Sherman being grumpy cat. The ending is wonderful and so is the story and characters I can’t wait to see where these four go next in their adventures and see which geek wins in the end.

I've been sick all week. Today is the first day I feel like my old self. I've made this a day of self care: first a haircut and then a rose cardomom latte from a local coffee shop. My hairstylist tried a different style on me, which I would've never thought to try but am happy with the outcome. I think we should take risks and venture outside our comfort zone. We might just be happy with the change. #metaphorforlife
