I BOUGHT A CHEF KIRBY BOARD đž
â long live your majesty! â ( kayden to apple ) @secretxxpaladaiseu
"...May I help you?" Apple raised an eyebrow at the stranger, one of the men surrounding her quickly preparing to get rid of the man that came up to her table. "Do you have business with me? Or are you just that drunk?"
reply: shatteredecorah
Kayden straightened himself out after placing the drink on the table. from the first glance, this could potentially look like he's the sketchy one. only, he was just following the note. "there's a secret admirer for you at the bar. they say it's on the house. I should've approached that more decently. your server's a little caught up at the moment. i'm filling in temporarily. this is a drink called the Queen's court, inspired by an olden castle wine that transcends time."
â  i can't believe you'd say that to me. â ( kayden to jaeyoung ) @secretxxpaladaiseu
"...Are you that thin skinned? I would say it to almost anyone." Jaeyoung let out a soft, short laugh as she straightened out her shirt. "Sorry I'm not some soft spoken woman, but I thought you'd like to know about your pants." With a shrug, she pulled a pack of cigarettes from her pocket, quickly slipping one between her lips and taking a deep drag once she had it lit. "Guess I'm not the best at subtleties."
reply: shatteredecorah
"i take it that tie-dye should be re-considered." he gently grabbed a piece of the pant fabric with a small, fake pout. "well, i never." kayden shrugged nonchalantly and had a fifty-fifty smile on his face. taking in the considerations of how fast he took it off the clothing rack when he first saw them and the comment, a part of kayden's shopping confidence slipped away. "it was the quickest thing to put on and i personally love to see these with a beautiful dress. i want to become my own butterfly one day. a beautiful tie-dye butterfly and i'll see to it that i tone down the colors... but the pants themselves are very comfy. i feel like my legs are surrounded by clouds."
0.06 meme ( Hajime and Kayden ) @secretxxpaladaiseu
Hajime found he couldn't quite sleep that night, which wasn't exactly new for him, but he was feeling more restless than usual. Knowing he needed to do something, he decided to go for a walk and give his fingers a break for once. Walking down the street, he came across a small playground and paused for a moment. He was used to seeing it filled with children and their parents, but now it was completely empty. A smile soon tugged on his lips as he found himself rushing over to the center piece of the playground, climbing up the slide as if he was a young child all over again.

there was a problem, constant cellular device use and being obsessed with likes had definitely been a defining factor that he needed to step back from the social media world. it was hurting the chest, flaring it to the point that kayden pulled on the navy sweater he wore. taking his keys and locking up the place after leaving, a route already got planned. parks aren't the first location to have in mind, but it's the branching out and acknowledging aspect that he has to hold onto. arriving to the park, kayden couldn't help but stick around the swings and observe that he wasn't the only one this time of night. bringing the swing ropes near his waist and walking forward with them, a cheeky smile couldn't help show. "i see, i am not the only one who decided on a late night walk."
Starter for @shatteredecorah from Sera
Sera had been almost unusually quiet at work. Unusually quiet was perhaps an odd thing to observe, since she typically was fairly quiet, but she had barely even uttered a word outside of a greeting when she was handing over paperwork.
It was the end of the day at this point for most, but Sera was still at her desk working away. Clearly, she was trying to avoid going home and was taking advantage of the optional overtime that was always offered. While not completely normal, it was paired with her more sullen demeanor that was hanging about the rest of the day. Standing up from her desk, she made her way towards the breakroom, giving her feet a break from her shoes and walking around in just stockings since nearly everyone was gone from the office. With a sigh, she leaned against the counter as she waited for the machine to heat up, twirling a cup in her hand as she stared blankly at it.
kayden packed up his things, nearly fumbling about to protect a pencil from falling on the floor or getting paper nearly everywhere. today just wasn't his day, not since the second he woke up. though, positive breathing had been a perfect save.
after all was mostly packed, another glance over at the break room and a sigh blew out those lips in exhaustion. "that's not...." he muttered, whilst putting a few files in the desk. "part of the plan..." it was only two dishes, two! and yet, due to how the day went, a part of kayden absolutely got disgusted by doing them. making sure everything was corrected on his desk, he then got up and entered the breakroom. starting a small dish water in the sink, he couldn't help hearing the machine and perked up. "is that tea or coffee?" a tsk could be heard afterward as he wanted to silence his voice the second it got out. "i mean, both are good. i just like to be nosy sometimes."
Hearing someone come into the break room, Sera quickly tried to hide her face. As Kayden made his way to the sink, she quickly turned around so his back was facing her. Of course, she knew this sort of hiding wasn't all that effective, but still...Sometimes it at least gave others the impression that she wanted to be ignored. Of course, in a way she wanted to be, just to cause less trouble around the office, but she also missed having casual conversation. Being an involuntary hermit was not her thing, but it's where she felt she was stuck.
"C-Coffee..." She responded after a few moments to the others question, still not looking at him. "I'm working overnight, so the more coffee the better..."
Kayden glanced to the machine, and then his lightbulb activated. "oh, coffee is like a steam boat. whenever i have coffee, it feels like smoke rises out of my ears and makes it easier to sail along those waters of paper." he makes sure to put of the dish gloves and scrubs the dishes carefully. "choo-choo.. oh, wait. that's not the sound of a steam boat at all." he snickered to himself.
his breath caught, a breezy feel as he could tell some part of his mind is alerting the nerves. "i was hoping to catch a bite of food after work, would you care if i brought some back? coffee sounds great... " two hands worked on placing the dishes on the drying rack and to drain the faucet, before he turned to where the voice is coming from. "that is... did you bring food already? because coffee and something to eat is a combo of a lifetime. or well, from my experience."
the gesture of being invited for a drink had him surprised. "oh, i am in no hurry. memories happen to put my body in a spin. an inevitable carousel." he explained, hoping to at least look more at ease. it proved difficult with how readily it seemed for kayden to be on the defense. checking his phone and making sure the information is correct, kayden lowered his shoulders with a shaky and stable exhale.
"i got to be ready for being out in public. i am both open and ready to talk and on the other hand, got walls up that are hard to take down." putting away his phone, he took a look at the skies and agreed to the notion. a small drink before the evening would surely help him feel ready for his job tomorrow. though, a complicated smile had his heart troubled.
compliments both ruled and brought some sense of discomfort. "do you think you could help me with something?" a prepared breath as he went over it in his head. "compliments, i both want to receive them and appreciate them. though, since i had trouble growing up with low self-esteem, i suppose my perception is broken. do you got any tips? and please, lead the way, i'd love to join."
A drink would've been better to help with any sort of anxiety. It was also easier to hold a conversation than on the street. "There's always a difference between being out in public and talking to others and being able to open up." It was one that she knew all too well. Though, for Seohyun, a lot of the time, she preferred not talking to others in general because of the looks she was given for her high end tastes.
Leading him towards the cafe, it was getting chilly and she could use a hot mocha, she nodded as she listened to Kayden speak. "I suppose it's something you have to remind yourself of. That you deserve those comments, that you're more than enough for them, and when you start to believe them, embody them, they'll start to grow on you. But we can work on it more over a warm drink."
Sometimes it would lead to cockiness, which was why people thought she was cocky and full of it. She had an aura that others were unable to deny, and she was in fact, gorgeous. There was no doubting that. And people wondered if their compliments fed her ego, when in reality, Seohyun simply didn't care about others' perspectives of her. Flicking her hair behind her shoulder as she stepped into the cafe, she looked over the menu gingerly. "Is there something you'd like to drink, Kayden?"
"a french vanilla with whipped topping would be a good choice for me. familiar too." kayden started to pull out his coins, counting them on the side as he went over the words that were said previously. it got him smiling and blushing, a real cheek burn with how it contrasted with his tawny skin.
maybe it was the fact that his parents never seemed to have the time of day, that or he was too embarrassed to remind him. something about being a kid and being silenced into trying to give himself compliments, praises that will fit in line with the echoes off the wall. he sniffled himself to sleep, wanting to feel that receiving factor whenever the report cards would be mailed home. "it rarely stuck that long when I was a kid. it was like a birthday candle. once you blew it out, the colors faded into the background and it was no longer special."
he shook off the chills, and couldn't help correcting his posture next to seohyun. "what about you? anything speaks to you?" with a partial airy, and nervous laugh mixed together, mr. aniibiish couldn't help and ask. "how do you think i am doing so far? i wish to be a great conversation partner... branching out is scary and beautiful."

"is that tea or coffee?" a tsk could be heard afterward as he wanted to silence his voice the second it got out. "i mean, both are good. i just like to be nosy sometimes."
unkind... addictions and mental health scares startled the memory bank, causing his eyelashes to constantly flitter like a butterfly about to take off. being human in the matter of cases proved difficult. that, and not having that reassurance and validation when he was younger altered his mind state. without even meaning to, kayden aniibiish became a door mat, the perfect people pleaser.
he picked up the bodily signs that he was triggered. breath. it was amping up the nerves quickly. "was that a compliment? me not being one of them." he spoke breathlessly. "i've been one before... it wasn't my proudest memories. sometimes they happened and i couldn't stop it from happening." breath. "i believe we all have capabilities to hurt someone, it's our choice whether we go through with it or not. isn't that a human thing?"
then again, looking back on the past, he never really grasped the concept of what a human is or isn't. and sometimes when he frets, there's always the chance of him feeling less human. "right." kayden hated the fact on how quickly a tight smile pulled at those cheeks of his. "here. my phone number is..." typing in the numbers, now feeling a chill running up his spine, kayden knew he had to get this under control... he didn't want this interaction ribbon to be cut off or awkward. "that's kind of why i apologize as soon as i do something wrong now. it would feel like a pin or needle at the tip of my tongue if i didn't do it right away."
Seohyun watched the other's expressions shift and for a moment wondered if she had said something wrong. Staying still, she offered a small smile before shaking her head. "It was a compliment, Kayden. You're a kind person, I don't think that's a bad thing. There aren't many in the world, and you're right. We all have the capabilities to hurt someone. But most choose to, because they want the benefits that come from hurting the person."
A pause happened but she smiled regardless. "But never mind that, you choose not to and that's important. You make a conscious choice not to. And that's what's important." Seohyun was used to the pain of being hurt and stabbed because of others' greed. Others only became close to her for money and what her family was able to offer. They were never genuine. At least none outside of the family friends she had made.
Patiently waiting for the other to type the numbers in, she placed her phone away when he was done and offered another smile. "See? You're too good. Sometimes some people don't deserve apologies. But that's simply how I feel and view the world. Not everyone should be blessed with others' kindness. But you simply are too kind for this world." A small bow of her head before she shrugged her shoulder. She noticed the breatlessness and wondered if he was in a rush for something. "I don't want to take up anymore of your time if you're in a hurry, Kayden. Thank you for your help today. Though if you aren't, I can treat you to a small drink for the chilly weather before we part ways for the night."
the gesture of being invited for a drink had him surprised.

"i'll make sure of it." kayden reassured. being born in the town instead of the reserve, it was only natural that he picked up what was given. the downside is that there's a language elective that gives ojibwe or french lessons in high school. and oddly enough, just in high school. there's grants later on in the community side of things... but for now, it's rewarding to know a few words, phrases. however, the place to learn most is at pow wow's or round dances. maybe even the sweat lodges.
"that's the energy!" he beamed, and a bittersweet smile followed. "i think there's a reason why i haven't fully learned as of yet. i don't fully feel like i belong when i speak it. it's as if when i say it, a part of me holds back and is rather unkind." kayden put a hand to his throat, caressing where the stress usually hits. her words hit his ears and he broke out into another genuine fit of laughter. "so, i think that's what i'll do to. we'll give it our all."
he couldn't help covering his face from all the smiling he was doing in the span of meeting seohyun. "and hey, that's okay. i'll be the one to say how kind you are someday. so if i ever hear anyone say something like that about you, i'll stumble in and kill them with kindness. no matter what, whatever follows, we'll be ready." the softest laugh could be heard as he once again, relaxes fully... feeling safe and welcomed.
She chuckled again at the reassurance. If Seohyun had to compare Kayden to something, he reminded her of the innocent elementary school kids. And though she wasn't sure she was one to want kids, she always had this feeling that they were all soft and gentle. As though the dark ugliness of the world hadn't yet touched them, and Kayden reminded her of that.
"I can understand that. Though, I doubt you can be unkind, Kayden. You simply don't give off that energy. There are many unkind people in the world, even those who pretend to be kind but are simply masking their true intentions. I don't think you're one of them. "I suppose we will, give it our all."
Laughing behind her fingers she straightened up and let her bag hang off her forearm before tenderly pulling out her phone. "If you ever find me unkind one day, that's okay too, Kayden." Seohyun knew she wasn't perfect, as a matter of fact, she was off putting, off standish. The further she kept others, the better. They didn't understand anyway. "You should just take care of yourself and let my unkindness take care of the others." Handing him her phone "should we exchange contact?"
unkind... addictions and mental health scares startled the memory bank, causing his eyelashes to constantly flitter like a butterfly about to take off. being human in the matter of cases proved difficult. that, and not having that reassurance and validation when he was younger altered his mind state. without even meaning to, kayden aniibiish became a door mat, the perfect people pleaser.

"oh." kayden clamped his lips shut afterward, shaking his body left to right steadily. "that's not... you are so much more than one memory, i am sure!" he laughed wholeheartedly. the joke reaching his heart and travelling throughout the body, sending welcoming nerves each time he chuckled. "you are correct, memories are special. and i..."
his face started turning red, a bittersweet feeling as he both felt welcomed in seohyun's presence and wanted to recoil into himself. "i can't wait to experience adventures with the language together. and please," he breathed out. the embarrassment slipping away. "practice makes perfect, even in the long run, i wouldn't want us to rush it. it could be even just on a walk. or whenever we feel inspired."
the world surrounding the two already has inspiration from the tiny rock next to them to the skies that allow them to see the blue... the blue that allows gratitude to fill that heart of his with each living breath. "once i allowed myself to be patient and kind, a lot of things followed. i don't want to let a second slip by without trying to feel as happy as i can. it's why i try to look for the positive, even when it seems that positive might not be fully there. i'll find it and keep it close."
Watching his response, Seohyun was worried seeing the shake of his body, but was relieved after the laugh. Though she came off as being off putting, she was still someone who worried about others' well beings, despite not showing it all the time. "I'm glad I'll be more than a memory of a luxury bag then." A soft smile watching Kayden speak.
There was a sudden urge to pat his head as though he was a child or a puppy, but she refrained herself, because it was out of character for her, and truly wasn't mannerly to be touching other individuals she just met out of the blue. "I hope it'll be of excitement then, and I'll try to practice, though I suppose I can't make a promise, I'll try my best." Her attention was always short term, it was why she was constantly shopping for a new wardrobe, but Kayden could speak it to her and she'll nod along.
"You'll always have a positive outlook on life if you continue thinking like that, Kayden. Keep up the work, and I'm sure I'll watch the positivity that follows." Seohyun slid her purse strap back over her shoulder elegantly again before smiling again. "I don't know if I can ever be patient and most think I'm unkind, so maybe we'll have different things following the two of us then."
"i'll make sure of it." kayden reassured. being born in the town instead of the reserve, it was only natural that he picked up what was given. the downside is that there's a language elective that gives ojibwe or french lessons in high school. and oddly enough, just in high school. there's grants later on in the community side of things... but for now, it's rewarding to know a few words, phrases. however, the place to learn most is at pow wow's or round dances. maybe even the sweat lodges.

there was something that stuck at the end of meetings, something unearthly and that was the connection thread that held interactions together. then again, kayden was meant to suffer a few awkward interactions in his life... so why not try and make it work a little more..
"would you care to learn? i have a few phrases up my sleeve, not a whole lot. weather, days of the week, sun and moon." he felt more at ease. his heart calmed as well, allowing him to laugh genuinely at the compliment. "and that would mean the world down the road. i could use a practice partner."
"was it a good attempt at least? did it work, seohyun?" kayden asked, eyebrows raised and in a bright expression that revealed a toothy grin. "i would be more better at this. the social bar is only so high before it starts to take a toll on the atmosphere." kayden nodded, "and of course, i feel like i really enjoyed this time together, albeit, short and sweet." he put his hands in his sweatpants pockets, "memorable. inspiring." kayden couldn't help but admire the energy he felt. "whenever i see that brand, i'll be thinking of you. that is a very top notch quality you have there."
As a CEO of a company, Seohyun knew better than others learning more was important for growth, intellectually and personally. Languages were something that excited the mind and encouraged people to communicate with one another. She simply enjoyed spending her time on things that made her happy, like purchasing the next bag.
Despite all that, she was unable to turn down the man in front of her. If anything else, his toothy grin and bright personality was something she wasn't used to. "I would try, though I should warn you, I'm not too good at pronunciations, but I'll try, and if nothing else, you can review your vocabulary."
She could always cheer him up and clap along. "You really have a way of seeing life, it's something I find... for a lack of a better word, intriguing. And I wonder how you do it. Though, I do hope we keep our agreement to practice the language together. And that I'm not just a memory of a luxury brand." She joked with a soft chuckle.
"HO, HO, HO" his voice deepening and echoing through the bathroom walls as he turned back around to face the other again with his shave cream covering his face "I think this might be my new look what do you think? should I go apply as mall Santa?
muse: kayden, 23-26 years old, a unemployed beader trying to make the best of time as it is.
kayden scrunched his face up and went up to take some shaving cream and placed it to make a moustache. "truthfully speaking, when one becomes a mall santa, there's a red carpet that leads all the way to the chair. so, in all actuality, you would be the vip and share joy and cheer. why not... i am not stopping you. though, gotta ask." a lop sided smirk shown through. "how do i look? do i look professional? should i try and grow one out?"
small talk or not, the nerves started its engine. it had him hiding his face in his hands with a blush like none other. "i wasn't offended." sweeping back his hair, kayden's eyes observed the bow and respectfully accepted returned it before widening in surprise. "right." an awkward laugh slipped through his lips and he sheepishly slouched.
"boozhoo meaning hi, and niin is for me, then i spoke my name. kayden aniibiish and the added word is basically saying 'my name is..." nindizhinikaaz." kayden rubbed at his neck, trying to get this awkward scratch off his shoulders. introductions became so normal for him since he started community work. no wonder it seemed unscripted and so natural to do.
"i also apologize, i do-.. am still a stranger. i would be completely okay to leave this as is. and the language is ojibwe. i am hoping to practice always. it helps keep my spirit going." a smile broke through, relaxing himself and getting his posture straight again. "i do enjoy teaching it, wherever i go. although, i can only say my introduction, some weather, medicines, but anything beyond that...." he laughs freely. "i'll learn how to speak it fully one day."
Seohyun nodded as the other explained the meaning behind his words. The more they learned about way of life. "That's a long way to say my name is, but thank you for giving that introduction to the language, and I hope you can learn how to freely express yourself in that language one day." She offered a gentle smile before pondering whether or not this awkward first meeting was meeting the end of its stay.
"It's been a pleasure to meet you, Kayden. I apologize I don't remember the family name. But I hope we can meet again. At this current moment. I think..." She looked down at her bag with a gentle sigh. It was likely a lost cause but not worth a try.
Chuckling she looked up again. "I'll have to see if we can save it. If not, I'll see if it could be repurposed. Thank you again for your time, and attempting to console me after the tragic event."
there was something that stuck at the end of meetings, something unearthly and that was the connection thread that held interactions together. then again, kayden was meant to suffer a few awkward interactions in his life... so why not try and make it work a little more..
"would you care to learn? i have a few phrases up my sleeve, not a whole lot. weather, days of the week, sun and moon." he felt more at ease. his heart calmed as well, allowing him to laugh genuinely at the compliment. "and that would mean the world down the road. i could use a practice partner."

refreshing...
there was a tinge of hurt that displayed across his cheeks. "our guidance is the nature, as a whole. mother nature to be exact, we have sweat lodges that resonate her care for us." kayden tried to shake off the underlying thought of not being spiritually tied to the nature around him. "i don't like to think of the seasons as what they are. they are so much more."
he smiles softly and relaxes, "boozhoo, niin kayden aniibiish nindizhinikaaz." a pinkish hue followed as it's been a bit since he spoke the language. butterflies or 'memengwaa' have been floating in his stomach for a bit now. "it's a pleasure to meet you, seohyun."
there was a beat of the drum sounding within his heart before he started to fidget, feeling like his welcome was overstayed since there wasn't entirely a reason to stay. it felt odd thinking about how to keep the conversation going.. so, again, another smile.
"and i thank you for the compliment. it's a rare one. one that i haven't heard before."
This person was definitely different. Though him speaking in another language had her confused and buzzled. "Sorry-" she began. Clearing her throat. Though Seohyun spoke some languages other than Korean fluently, whatever was just said was definitely one she hadn't studied before. She bowed her head as an apology before straightening. "But I didn't quite understand the long sentence you just said- but it's nice to meet you too."
A smile followed as a return to the other's smile. It was feeling awkward, and she was one that was never good at small talk. Enjoying the pleasures of getting things done quickly, this was possibly the longest small talk she had ever had.
"I hope you weren't offended by the compliment. But it was a pleasure to meet you, really."
small talk or not, the nerves started its engine. it had him hiding his face in his hands with a blush like none other.
"i'll learn how to speak it fully one day."
open to: anyone. kayden is between the age of 24- 25.
moccasins, the leather sewn by love passed on through generations before them to welcome a new. there is nothing denying the power it has, by the positioning, the dancing, the breath as it swings through the air to land on beat. to have one stolen from you unrightfully dims the soul, makes the candle much harder to light.
mr. aniibish could not bear the feeling and started to shake. a part of that love had been taken. without thinking, he swung at a wall connected to the mall and tried to shake it off, not realizing that someone had been looking.
"i am so sorry for the noise, that was not... polite of me."
