Andrew’s Global Mining Investing is mainly concerned with how to think and act as a successful, rational investor with a underlying theme of controlling your risk. The book touches on a huge amount of content which heavily relies on knowledge that can only be obtained through experience...The text was engaging, as I knew the valuable outcome was to be a better thinker and investor.
While some books (such as Coulson’s An Insider’s Guide to the Mining Sector) focus on one particular commodity this book (Global Mining Investing) attempts (and does well) to cover all types of mining and commodities.
The book’s original target audience are geologists, geophysicists, metallurgists and engineers looking to extend the breadth of their knowledge to other fields and into the economics of investing. However, the later edition includes concepts and explanation such that are fit for the layman. If you want to learn how to think about investing, and how to choose companies/ commodities to invest in, no matter where you start, I recommend this book.
