Hi in one of your posts you mentioned that laito did a ton of horrible things to ayato, can you elaborate and discuss it further I'm really curious about it as a lot of people in the fandom(to my knowledge) don't talk about it
// The fandom doesn’t talk about it because most people who played the games/read the routes aren’t active anymore (understandable).
Anyway, let’s go:
Laito accuses Ayato of “sacrificing him to save his own skin”, and that single line carries the implication that Ayato willingly offered his brother up to Cordelia to save himself. But this accusation is built entirely on a LIE. It’s just Laito’s way of rewriting their shared trauma and messing with his brother’s head.
The truth is, Ayato never betrayed Laito. Cordelia’s actions toward Laito had absolutely nothing to do with Ayato or Kanato. She chose Laito for her own twisted reasons, since Kanato already had a purpose as her “songbird,” and Ayato had been singled out as the “future heir”, therefore Cordelia just needed someone for pleasure because her husband didn’t give her enough attention.
Laito tries to make Ayato the bad one for betraying him and not saving him, when in reality, Ayato was just minding his own business. He had no power to change what happened, since he was just a child dealing with his own pain. By that same logic, why didn’t Laito try to save/defend Ayato when he knew how cruelly Cordelia treated him? Because he’s not stupid and he knows that an abused child has no control in that kind of situation. Yet, instead of acknowledging that truth, he chose the easier route, which is to blame Ayato. That’s something many broken people do: they redirect their pain toward someone else because it’s easier to make another person responsible for your suffering than to face reality.
Ayato has always struggled with insecurities. Deep down, Ayato doesn’t believe he’s worth much to anyone. So when Laito tells him such a thing, Ayato believes it. The idea that he could have somehow hurt his brother and was incapable to save him fits too neatly into the narrative he already carries about himself: that he’s a failure and unlovable. If you play Ayato’s routes, you can clearly see how sad or terrified he gets when he makes a mistake, because he’s so afraid of repeating bad things.
This is what’s known as REALITY FALSIFICATION (when someone manipulates another person’s memories and emotions so thoroughly that they start to believe them over the actual truth). For years, Laito plants and reinforces the idea that Ayato is a coward who let his brother suffer for his own sake. That belief corrodes Ayato’s self-image from the inside out, until he starts to feel guilty for a betrayal that never even happened.
But the irony is that Ayato’s life was never easier or safer than Laito’s. Even then, Ayato never acted out of his own interest as a child. When he realized that Laito and Kanato had gone missing, he nearly went back into the vampire-eating ghouls’ territory he’d just escaped from. He was scared, but he would’ve risked everything for them. That’s not the behavior of someone selfish or cowardly, that’s the mark of someone who loves his brothers and instinctively puts others before himself.
And Laito knows that. He knows that Ayato’s heart is pure, as confirmed by himself, and that’s exactly why it hurts him so much. He is aware of the fact that Ayato genuinely cares for him and he knows his good deeds are not only guilt-driven. Ayato is like a mirror reflecting everything Laito wishes he still had. He can’t stand seeing that purity in someone who endured the same pain he did. Instead of admitting his envy, he decides to tear Ayato down to feel better, even going as far as to implant a false memory of guilt into his brother’s mind.
Why was Ayato the perfect victim for this? It’s because he’s an insecure person who constantly struggles with low self-esteem. He cares a lot about how others see him, and even more about the people close to him. In the vulnerable state he was put in, Ayato became the easiest to manipulate precisely because of his high capacity for guilt, empathy, and remorse.
It’s totally fine to enjoy their dynamic, since it is an interesting one, but it gets so frustrating when people portray them as besties. The only game where they actually spend noticeable time together is the very first one. And even there, you can sometimes see Laito provoking or influencing Ayato to act badly. There are even more moments of Laito and Kanato being shown together than there are of Laito and Ayato. Only because Ayato tries to be there for Laito doesn’t mean that Laito would do the same, since he is too mentally damaged. At the end of the day, Laito IS Ayato’s abuser and he himself admits that, so it’s kinda weird seeing people portray their relationship as all sunshine and rainbows.

AYAYUI IDOL AU: Chapter 8
// This one actually took a while because I ended up changing Yui’s face on the cover, since her eyes were pointing in two different directions, lol. Anyway, things are finally starting to get serious, so you better get ready! ;3
Previous chapter: here
// What did Karlheinz and Cordelia even do to deserve having such a breathtakingly beautiful child? It’s seriously too easy for him to stand out.
// I’m not the biggest DL stage play fan, but the girl who portrayed Yui looks too pretty in this pic, so I had to get it! 💕💕
// If my insanely good-looking crush pulled a famous idol, who must be stunning too, I would honestly just accept defeat.
Ayato: Hey, come closer.
Yui: ( The person he's with... I'm pretty sure that's our classmate... )
( The one who said she’s too busy with her idol work to come to school often. )
( So she came to school today, huh? )
( Wait, what is Ayato-kun doing in a place like this with such a celebrity... )
( No way… is this a secret date!? )
// Congratulations, you got a kitten! 🐱💖
// She’s so jealous and desperate to be sucked; this side of Yui is just too funny!!
// Yui’s logic is something else, haha. He can’t be disappointed to find out that you’re a slut, if he already knows that. 💡
Laito: I love your slutty side... but I feel like Ayato-kun will be disappointed in you.
Yui: …That’s not true. Because Ayato-kun is long aware…
Yui Princess Collection 2
// All my standees have finally arrived, and I’m absolutely in love! Honestly, I like this set way more than the first one, since the poses are cuter, and the outfits feel so lively! They suit Yui’s cheerful personality! 🥹💘💘
My only gripe with the DL stands in general is how overly bright they are, like… it gets to the point where you can barely make out the faces. Still, the cards do a good job showing what the characters are supposed to look like, so at least we can appreciate their facial features there, hehe.
Now that I have all of them in HD, I want to write down my opinion about each stand:
// She eats that strawberry like a squirrel. 🍓💕
// Today it’s Rejet’s 17th anniversary and they decided posting more info regarding the upcoming songs!
Pros:
Ayayui crumbs… sort of.
As I previously stated, the song and lyrics are beautiful.
Ayato x Kou and Carla x Kino are marketed as duos, so that’s cute.
Cons:
In order to get all the album benefits ( drama CD, postcard, illustration card, badge and so on ), you'll need to buy seven copies, each from a different shop. Yeah… good luck, wallet.
The PV song is Ayato’s CD track. That’s it. They straight-up dropped half of the “secret” song like it wasn’t even supposed to be a surprise.
// I’ll never get tired of this scene. The fact that Ayato wasn’t even dating Yui there, but still sacrificed himself for her… that’s just too noble! And Shu revealing that Ayato WILLINGLY let himself be attacked makes him even cooler. He could’ve fought off the wolves, but he chose to use himself as shield just so Yui wouldn’t get hurt at all. 🥺🫶🏻
