Letting out a breath, she moved closer to her mother. “I would’ve said how much you mean to me. And that I’m sorry for all of the tantrums I’ve thrown over the years. I haven’t always been the easiest daughter to deal with. The couple of times I’ve come home drinking, turning into a vampire. But not once did I take you for granted, even when I was mad.”

Caroline spoke softly, her eyes never leaving her, for fear of her disappearing. “I wish you saw it too, mom.”

Elizabeth took her daughter's hand in her own and gave it a light squeeze as if to give her strength, "Please, be strong...for me? I know you'll do just fine without me, you're a strong, intelligent, and beautiful young woman and I want you to make a lot out of your life. Now, I have to go now....I love you." She closed her eyes and disappeared from view...."Goodbye." She spoke, it echoing around the house and then dissolving into quiet.

"Well you didn’t stay long enough." Caroline mumbled, biting her bottom lip. "I didn’t even get to say goodbye."

Nodding, she ran a hand through her hair. “Yeah, he did it. It was pretty good, surprisingly. I.. I sang for you afterwards.”

How crazy would people think she was? Hallucinating her dead mother.

"I'm sorry about that...Well, now's your chance,Caroline...say what you would've said to me..." A bright smile lit up her face as if she was some sort of angel watching over her daughter. She tilts her head to the side, "You sang? Now, I really wish I saw it...you have a wonderful voice, sweetie."

Plot # 17: Save the Last Dance for Me

Muse A is bridesmaid in a close friend’s wedding. Muse B is a groomsman. Though paired with different groomsmen and bridesmaids for the ceremony, Muse A and Muse B end up side by side at the wedding party’s table. Conversation flows easily. She laughs at his cheesy jokes about the groom. He pulls out her chair every time she gets up to attend to the bride. All night long they’re pulled in opposite directions, unable to enjoy the reception together for longer than a few minutes at a time. Toward the end of the evening, when the guest count has dwindled, and their servitude has met its end, Muse B finds Muse A just as she’s about to leave. He asks her to share the last dance of the evening with him and she says “yes”.

"A good time at your funeral, you mean?" Caroline rubbed her tired eyes and sighed.

"Uh---How is....everyone? Did Damon do the eulogy like he promised?" She laughs lightly, trying to lighten the mood....it probably  wouldn't work.

I almost lost it. This whole funeral was brilliantly shot, acted and directed. From the emotion, from Damon’s touching eulogy and tribute to Caroline and his friend, and the song Caroline sang.

RIP Sheriff Forbes. Gone but never forgotten.
