"Sherlock Holmes, Consulting Detective. I've just moved to the states and was immediately scooped up by these SHIELD brutes. And you?"
Alone on Christmas, humbug!
“I’m not full of myself, I’m a realist,” Sherlock spat, spinning on his heel to face Jules. “This man, this murderer, isn’t just a stabber or a slasher. He’s a bomber, and bombers are considered a topic of homeland security in this country, if I understand correctly. This is a man that will take everything you love, and dangle it in front of you, all the while crumbling it between his fingers and laughing at your miserable pain!”
Sherlock followed her gaze to the desk and sighed. “Your soldier there, his life isn’t fragile. I’ve read of him. His heart, though, is. It’s the same of all military men. If Moriarty gets to you, he will make your Captain’s life crumble. If he falters, so does your whole little superhero squad.”
The lanky man turned back to the bookcase and grinned. “How’s your dog, Agent Grayson? Belgian Mallinois, yes?”
Agent Grayson held up both of her hands in an I surrender like position. Her words were only supposed to tease the man; she never meant to hit a nerve. Jules silently guessed that someone that was close to him, has told him the same thing. She adverted her gaze to Sarge’s picture on the other end of her desk, “I apologize Sherlock. I didn’t mean to aggravate you.”
She listened to Sherlock analyse the unsub and nodded. Jules was thinking along those lines as well. Jules winced at Sherlock’s harsh, but true words. ‘Maybe he is a realist after all.’ Jules thought. Her hands formed into fists. ‘I promised you that you would never be alone again. No more loss… and I plan to keep that promise.’ Jules silently sent up a prayer for the soldier, still eagerly awaiting his return home.
When Sherlock asked Jules about Sarge her head shot back up and she grinned back. “Sarge is doing great. Yeah, he’s a Mallinois; still a puppy. Only fourteen months old, can’t wait for the ‘terrible two’ stage.”
"I know. The hairs on your jacket are still very light and short, and since you are a friend of Agent Lune's I assume you would have been in the military canine program. A shepherd of some kind, but not German, they are born dark and become lighter. However, the hairs are short, so as to suggest the dog is still a puppy. Do try to train him out of that jumping problem though, would you? I won't work with animals that jump."
Before she could ask how or why he knew, he decided to explain. "The placement of dog hair is thicker on one side of your clothing than the other. He jumps on your left, and you brush it off. He curls up on your right side, which suggests that you are right-handed--he knows which hand you pet him with. And as you are right-handed, I must know who exactly has been sitting at your desk aside from you, because the pen is placed in the upper left corner of the desk."
He stared her down, waiting for an answer. Government agents, especially not these SHIELD-brains, never let people sit at their desks, much less let them use their materials. Had someone broken in? Her answer would tell.
Alone on Christmas, humbug!
“I’m here to help you. Seems there’s some sort of murderer hopping between the UK and America, so I’m here to clean up your mess and solve the case.”
Sherlock was unaware that the killer was a supervillain, but having dealt with Moriarty, he was prepared for anything.
“Oh, and your friend? She’s an airhead and a buffoon,” Sherlock snorted in response to Jules’ comment. “I would suggest finding a better protector for your life.”
“Well someone’s full of them self aren’t they?” Jules retorted. She thought about it for a bit. If it was just a simple murder on the loose then why is S.H.I.E.L.D. involved? This isn’t something the Avengers need to be brought into.
“And why would I do that? She’s gotten me out of multiple tight spots before. When we got assigned to go on missions together Artemis was always prepared. Always one step ahead.”
When Jules heard the word protector her canine companion came to mind. Sarge. More importantly, Steve. She looked at the picture frame that was on her desk. He had, to her surprise, swung her onto his back. Artemis was laughing in the background and Stark took the picture.
“Do you think the murder is someone you know?” Jules asked Sherlock.
"I'm not full of myself, I'm a realist," Sherlock spat, spinning on his heel to face Jules. "This man, this murderer, isn't just a stabber or a slasher. He's a bomber, and bombers are considered a topic of homeland security in this country, if I understand correctly. This is a man that will take everything you love, and dangle it in front of you, all the while crumbling it between his fingers and laughing at your miserable pain!"

The lanky man turned back to the bookcase and grinned. "How's your dog, Agent Grayson? Belgian Mallinois, yes?"
Alone on Christmas, humbug!
“It’s just a celebratory holiday, another date on the calendar,” Sherlock grumbled as he looked curiously at Jules’ bookshelf. “Why do you read such drivel? These books are numbing for the mind, haven’t you got anything good?”
A smirk crossed his face, if only for a fleeting second.
“Maybe you should ask for good literature for Christmas.”
Jules raised an eyebrow and huffed, “Yeah, I guess your right. I still don’t see the stress of it all anyway.” She observed the Englishman read over her small book collection. “Sometimes I like mind numbing.” the agent retorted back with a mirrored smirk. ‘Especially with my line of work.’ Jules thought.
Jules shook her head and chuckled slightly, “Maybe I should huh? Any recommendations?”
“Something to make you less boring,” Sherlock said abruptly, standing up. “Especially since I have to spend my Christmas in this ridiculous SHIELD base. You and that cheeky friend of yours. Artemis. Who names their child something ridiculous like that?”
“Well excuse me. Seeing that more than half the books that I own are historical based, I don’t see a problem with them. You are in the Historical Department after all, sir.” Jules answered flatly. Why was Sherlock here anyway was beyond her comprehension.
The department head rolled her eyes and gave the most obvious answer she could think of. “Her parents, Sherlock, and she’s a damn good agent. Artemis is brilliant with her job and I’d trust her with my life.” Jules grumbled a bit. It didn’t make any since to her if he didn’t like their base, then he could just leave.
“Why are you here anyway?” she really didn’t know. Fury didn’t tell her much anymore.

OOC Post:
So, for those of you who don’t know, my mother was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer. She is seeking holistic treatment, and, as such, the holistic healer in my enormous family flew up from Arkansas a few days ago to help out. Welll, I have been helping out around the house, too, not to mention working 50+ hour weeks to pay Mom’s medical bills—because neither of my parents is physically able to work.
So, I apologize for the impromptu hiatus, I hate to leave all of you hanging. If you could like this post if I owe you, that would be super.
I’m also gonna reblog this on my Sherlock blog.
And here it is. Please read this post, it's important.
“John, how do you stand going to the market? Those people are ludicrously slow.”
Sherlock huffed and ran a hand through his unruly mop, collapsing onto the couch. “I refuse to purchase anything, you go.”
John chuckled to himself. “I cannot stand going either. Why did you even go in the first place?” He asked, crossing his arms over his chest, smiling in amusement.
"I needed something, you weren't home, Mrs. Hudson wouldn't go, Lestrade was busy," he said, with a roll of his aquamarine eyes, "and Molly came back with the wrong thing. Twice! I needed hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol, are those two things really so hard to obtain correctly!?"
//OOC
Hey, guys, so I am incredibly busy at the moment, but I will try to do replies tonight. I'm so so so sorry!!! Like if I owe.
“Ms. Adler, Sherlock.” John gave a slight nod. “A non familiar face, hello. John Watson.”

“So I see you all soon with, uh, the Hobbit or some other stuff. Hope you’re all very well, lots of love.” [ x ]

I wish these little angels received as much attention as the victims of the recent shooting.

“Yes, what?” Sherlock snapped, not bothering to look up from his computer.
The woman arched an eyebrow and chuckled, “Oh, nothing, um, I was wondering if you needed anything?”
"Why would I need anything?" The lanky man crossed his legs and furrowed his brow.
