08. bella’s nightmares begin after her assault in twilight. for weeks, she could still see the men’s faces in her dreams, coming at her, hear their words inside her head when she closed her eyes. ❛ don’t be like that, sugar. ❜ , would echo in her mind when she was alone, and her stomach would churn. she would sleep with her bedside table light on, and her curtains drawn so nobody could see inside. 

❛ his mind was a stranger to me, and yet, not totally unfamiliar. i had once hunted exactly such minds. ❜  had bella known the things within lonnie’s mind, what he planned to do to her before he killed her, if edward hadn’t shown up in time, she would have been worse off, in terms of both nightmares, and destructive behavior she turns to in intense situations. 

fast - forward to the first night she knew edward was watching her sleep — keeping a protective eye over her in the darkest hour. she was thankful he couldn’t read her thoughts; didn’t know the things going through her mind. how embarrassing, if he could hear how childish she sounded. scared of the dark at 17. but, every bump of the dark made her blood run cold, and she was thankful she wasn’t alone. thankful she could cling to something real — someone real. though he claimed he was dangerous, she trusted he wouldn’t hurt her.

07. anyway the summer before she moved to forks, bella dyed her hair bleach blonde to try and fit in with the girls who lived in her neighborhood. they all had blonde hair and played volleyball and soccer, and were super athletic and she did not relate at all, but she wanted to try and make friends. it worked for a little while, but eventually they stopped talking to her. it wasn’t real friendship, anyway, but she ended up dying her hair back and moving to forks with no friends.

06. bella cried after renesmee went to sleep every night until she was around the physical age of four because she couldn’t breastfeed and felt like she was missing out on crucial bonding time with her baby. coupled with the fact that her daughter’s growth rate had been described as “unprecedented”, she felt like she was being robbed of more than just bonding time, but an entire lifetime of memories to create with renesmee. because of the impending visit from the volturi, and the need to keep their family safe and hidden, she was never able to take her on walks through the park, or to the zoo, or to mommy and me classes like she had once imagined she would do after she had her child.
