I am sad to say that SnF will be shutting down. This project has been dragging on longer than it should have, and I feel it's being beaten with a dead horse at this point. I am terribly sorry, everyone. I simply have lost inspiration for this project and I can't see it going anywhere right now. It is also extremely difficult finding Voice Actors that are willing to sing as well as submit lines. Perhaps one day, I will attempt to resurrect Shingeki no Fairytale, but today is not that day. I will be moderating, but not admining, a new project, however, by the names of Attack on Corpse Party. There is no singing involved, and, again, I'm not the one admining it. Thank you everyone who joined the team and wanted to be a part of this project. Again, I'm very sorry. I wish you luck on future endeavors. -Andy

How any auditions have you had come in?

We've had two auditions come in since they've been open.

A lot less compared to when we first started this project.

What vocal types are you looking for in each specific character? For example, would Armin have a classical tone or belty?

It's ultimately up to the auditioner's interpretation of the role. If you can do both, try them out!

If we audition for a voice acting role, do we need to have music to accompany the singing? Or can it just be a Capella?

As stated before, and I believe on the audition page itself, we prefer Acapella. You do not need to have music to accompany any singing.

However, if it's harder for you to keep time, then by all means feel free to use music.

The cast page says last updated 'Updated as of 11/30/14' - is it still up to date with what roles are open for auditions? If not, it's be good to have a post saying what roles are still actually open. Cheers.

It is up-to-date.

The date was just not changed.

Personally, I find it easier to just check the pages. If it's causing any difficulty, though, a post can be created.

do our audition songs require a backtrack or not? and must it be a full song or would you like a small snippet?

As mentioned in the last ask, audition songs do not require a backtrack. We prefer them without backtracks, honestly, but if it’s needed to keep tempo or for some other reason, we can allow it.

Length must be at least 38 measures. Full songs are allowed. We just want a good idea of your vocal range.

Hi, I was wondering if having a standard American accent is required or if other accents are okay (eg. British or Australian accents)? Also, how would you like the songs to be completed? I remember reading something about no music but I wasnt sure if that meant a capella or with instrumental but not the studio version or something else completely. Are we expected to do harmonies in our audition songs? Sorry for asking so many questions.

That is quite fine! Questions are a-okay and encouraged here to help other people thinking of auditioning out!

First off, having any accent that is not American is fine. We don't want to keep anyone from another country or who has grown up with a different accent not to be discouraged from auditioning. If you want to attempt an american accent, you can. Same goes for if you are american and want to try a different accent. All that matters if your acting ability with lines provided and if we can see a difference between you acting and you talking normally or with little to no inflection.

For songs, we prefer a whole song to be performed, but we are okay with less. There is a strict minimum of measures for a song (38 - and we will be counting) and that needs to be met.

Regarding the background for said songs, acapella is great as we get a chance to hear your singing without any accompaniment, can add accompaniment if need be, and get a better idea of if there has been any tampering with voices or not (and we know when there has been - we don't like it please don't alter your recordings) but we will accept accompaniments. If you want to use an accompaniment, instrumental only. Any version is fine, just do not sing over someone else.

You are not expected to do harmonies in a song but we like hearing it now and again. If you can harmonize, don't be afraid to show us. If you can't, don't stress yourself over it.

An Update

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, we will have to start recasting for Erwin Smith as well. This is a non-singing role.

Marco Bodt, however, will be closed for auditions due to some miscommunications and a mixup with records on our part. Our deepest apologies to those who were considering trying out for Marco. We will be editing out casting list immediately.

Please keep spreading around information. We are currently accepting auditions and will be until March 1st, 2015.

I don't mean to repeat questions, so apologies if the following has been asked but, 1 - If we audition for lines, are we to say ALL of them? And 2 - When you say that songs have to be completed, do you mean this in the sense that we have to sing the song completely? Thank you!

It's totally fine! We might need to make a FAQ though soon.

1. Yes. All the lines are meant to be recorded, with no more than three repetitions of each line if you so choose. However, if that is too much, we will take three lines per character.

2. Completed as in at least 48 bars of a song. It's better if you can do the whole song so we can get a good idea of range - as with certain songs ranges are showed off the further into the song you go. Again, if it is too much, we will take 48 measures, but no less.

Feel free to ask any other questions if you need!

If any of the previous cast members were to re-audition, would you let them? And if you did, you wouldn't give them the part back right away, right? I really want to audition, but I'm worried about competing against any of the people who originally had the now open parts. :(

It was made clear to original cast members that if they left the production or if we did not hear back from them within a certain amount of time (given a grace period of two months) they would not be allowed to audition for the same roles again.

That being said, you do not need to worry about competing with the old VAs that were previously casted.

I made it perfectly clear to those who left the project that if they were to leave, they would not be accepted into the project again for the same role.

Please don't be worried about auditioning. I'm aware that must sound similar to telling a fish not to swim. Regardless, we love to hear any and all auditions and encourage you to give it a shot.

If we auditioned when you first held auditions and did not get in, can we try again?

That’s a good question and a very easy one to answer:

Yes.

Just because you might not have made the cut the last time around, that does not mean you were not good or that you cannot audition for us again. In fact, we encourage it! So many of you sounded great and we love to see those who are still interested in being part of Shingeki no Fairytale.

And for those of you from our last round of auditions that felt awkward about their audition and wanted a redo, this is your chance!

How do we audition for ensemble?

Very simple: On our auditions page, at the bottom, we have lines available as well as songs. You can submit up to five lines and three songs if auditioning for an ensemble role.

Clarify in your email to us whether you just want to do lines for background characters, or if you would like to just sing, or both.

That's pretty much all there is to it!

Say I were to audition for two characters; can I sing six songs in total, three for each?

Yes! That is absolutely correct! However, we recommend if auditioning for more than one role to change your count from three per character to two per character.

I hope that clears things up!

Greetings everyone!

As stated in the last announcement/update, things have been a little hectic and as a result shingeki no fairytale was pushed off to the side. We want to produce something with all of our effort put in, not most or only some. As a result, we've taken a bit of a breather and done some reassessing.

Some people have had to leave our project and to those we either heard back from or heard nothing at all, we wish them happiness and success in their future endeavors and move onward.

Which brings me to why I'm here.

As of December 1, 2014 at 12:00 AM, VA auditions will once again be open. These shall remain open until March 1, 2015, at 12:00 AM.

There will be no exceptions to accepting anything past this date as this should be an ample amount of time to submit audio work. Unless there is a valid enough excuse and the team is contacted via email within 24 hours of the deadline's close.

Ensemble members are welcome to audition for a named VA role, as newcomers are free to audition for either.

Love to sing but don't want to voice act? Ensemble is for you!

Like doing both? Try out for one of the VA roles!

The parts open for grabs will be up tonight, as well as reconstruction of the blog shall be finished by then.

We may be hiring musicians but will not have come to a conclusion until January 3, 2015 at 12:00 AM. If so, all sheet music will be purchased personally by me, the admin, for those involved.

Finally, we are accepting positions for anyone interested in trying their hand at being a mod for Shingeki no Fairytale. This project is a lot of work, and such we are dividing everything that needs to be done into different categories for one mun to be in charge of per say.

For example: Mod Becca is heading the writing department and is responsible for making sure the writing team is on task and able to meet with deadlines as well as give some input and manage any problems within the writing division.
