Random question but what's your opinion on Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark from the hunger games?
they make me start frothing at the mouth and punching drywall thanks for asking <3

compilation of Katniss being a kind little gift giver 🥺🥺🥺
I really like the parallelism between these two moments.
Regardless of the fact that Peeta would actually want to marry Katniss and regardless of the fact that Katniss was in the process of developing feelings for him, at this time both of their feelings were being exploited.
Sometimes it seems like Peeta is considered lucky for ending up in this predicament, he kinda says it himself during the 74th games, but he says he's lucky then because in that moment he was convinced Katniss liked him back.
But his feelings are also being exploited and he has to fake the extent of the relationship for other people's enjoyment the same way Katniss does, he's also being deprived of the ability to choose. Sure he could do a lot worse than having to marry Katniss, but that isn't really the point, though, is it?
“i don't like everlark. peeta deserved to be with someone who is obsessed with him”
my sweet sibling in christopher… did we read the same books?
because if there is anyone obsessed with peeta, it is katniss "i would risk my life over and over and over again just so he can have a chance to be happy" everdeen.
i won't leave you behind
The thing about Peeta is that he gave Katniss an out multiple times throughout the series.
He offered to die in their first games. He undid his bandage on his bleeding leg and literally said “It’s what I want”
In the Quarter Quell he volunteered so that he could protect her and guarantee her survival and gave his blessing for her to move on.
In Mockingjay he asks someone in Squad 451 to kill him and in the tunnels he asked to be left behind and die.
He repeatedly gave Katniss the opportunity to let him go and love someone else but Katniss refused. She refused each time because she can’t live without him. She loves him, it was always him.
This is why Peeta volunteering in the Quarter Quell was so underrated. Had he let Haymitch go, hoping that their month of career training would be sufficient to win, he would have learned about the rebellion early on and would have been on the ship to district 13. But he volunteered, volunteered because as far as he knew, if she somehow won, she would be forced to be in love with him, and he didn't want that.
katniss: everyone’s so focused on protecting peeta because they too know how pure hearted he is and believe that he—a boy they’ve never even met before—deserves to survive over them and their friends of literal decades
finnick, to literally everyone else: okay if peeta dies she’s gonna kill all of us and then herself, so hands in, protect bread boy on three-
yeah rereading the hunger games really is the funniest experience because katniss will spend time remarking on peeta’s eyelashes or the colour of his hair or the fact that he’s strong or the way his hugs make her feel or how much he matters to everyone or how perfect he is and then immediately turn around and be like ugh i wish i could love this boy! i wish i was in love with him right now! wish i felt the way he does about me! girl!!!!!! you are WORSE!
It's always funny how Finnick realizes in the arena that Katniss really loves Peeta and that she wouldn't be of ANY help if he died
No one will ever be more stressed than him, a temporary single mother of two children who works multiple jobs trying to keep them both alive
Katniss
Happy belated birthday to Katniss Everdeen — the girl who keeps reminding me not to lose hope (which is not an easy task).
What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again.
Peeta got a little carried away in the studio one afternoon...
The art is mine (but Peeta painted it, trust), the photo is not. I found it on pinterest and photoshopped the art onto the canvas. Full painting is below the cut
The thing about Peeta and Katniss’s dynamic shifting in the third book in a way that makes it a reversal of the first book is that, while Peeta always knew Katniss cared about him—and by Catching Fire, even knew she loved him—he finally took a walk in her shoes to the point where he really understands just how deeply someone has to love you to break through the belief that you’re trying to kill them and instead protect your life as fiercely as their own. How much Katniss loved him all along.
Ive got a secret to tell you guys… i also like the hunger games
saw the take katniss being nice to peeta in mockingjay would make her "more likeable as a character". are we just erasing depth now for the sake of likeability?
i like that she's mean in mockingjay. you're telling me the one thing she built up in her mind as the idea of perfection came back imperfect and you want her to just frolic about it? to coddle him? she should throw a chair. i would throw a chair.
And all things considered, she does handle it pretty well IMO. That was her best friend, her trusted confidante, her love (define that how you want) and he was warped and wrecked and tried to ~murder her~ in an extremely violating and intimate kind of way too. Of course she’s not going to go running back to him. The emotional pain is worse than the physical: she says so.
On top of that, she’s deeply traumatized and being used and abused and like, randomly forcibly sedated and has a meager support system … not to mention the war. She doesn’t owe anyone likability.
And also … I’m not sure Haymitch and Katniss are actually unbiased enough to know what Peeta would do if the positions were reversed. They’re a little soft on him, the pair of them, bless them.
