25 Black-owned bookstores you can support right now
while i donât claim to be a âbook bloggerâ by any account (more of a cranky publishing-person blogger most days), i know a lot of people have followed me through my book posts, so iâm taking advantage of that captive audience to boost these bookstores. shop them through their own websites and if youâre local, look into curbside pickup to minimize shipping costs and overhead. okay thatâs all thanks bye stay safe.

This move is cute af. Single mom finds love in an unexpected doofus who says nice things and means them.
And who unabashedly loves her kids and is 100% down to be their stepdad. AND a badass old lady who loves her cats and is just fabulous.
OKAY BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT MADAME AND GEORGE AND HOW THEY HAVE SUCH A CHARMING, FLIRTY RELATIONSHIP AND IT ISNT MOCKED BECAUSE THEY ARE âTOO OLDâ AND HOW MADAME IS PORTRAYED AS BEAUTIFUL AND DIGNIFIED BUT ALSO DOWN TO BE A LITTLE SILLY WHEN THE OCCASION CALLS FOR IT EVEN AS AN OLD WOMAN!!!
Like how neither of them are presented as âpast their primeâ - theyâre just living their best lives and itâs AMAZING?!?
So Iâm concerned, I really want to write but at this point I just donât have passion in any of my wips anymore and I havenât written in years. I donât know what to do. I feel like Iâve failed.
It hurts to say this, as someone who writes, but if youâre still interested in the idea behind a wip but currently donât have passion behind it; start it over. scratch everything you had for it, and begin again.Â
Thatâs what I did with my Lake House novel which I had begun 3 separate times in the last sevenish years before last November. Itâs now the first full-length novel Iâve completed.Â
If youâre not interested in any of it anymore, scrap everything (by which I mean start a new file. donât throw youâre writing away - never do that, thatâs where you come back to find things later when youâre stuck). Scrap it and start daydreaming new ideas. Outlining is writing, researching is writing, throwing idea spaghetti at the wall until something sticks is, in fact, writing. Donât give up. <3Â
