for those of you who still think it's okay to make fun of school shootings, or use the victims trauma and the losses they have suffered, honestly screw you.
I live in Texas, perhaps the state with the most cases of shootings, and school shootings in particular. I live in this state where every day I go to a school where I don't know whether or not someone will decide we're the perfect target to shoot. Where we are hardly protected and where, like clockwork, another school shooting occurs and I'm reminded of that fear of losing your friends, your siblings, and even your parents who may work there.
you think it's funny to make fun of this, but this is a real problem, this is something that I have to live with and many others have to live with because our government can't get their head out of their asses and pay attention to the important problems and would rather protect the lives of those who haven't been born yet instead of those who are living and need their protection.
if you still think this is funny, or something worth romanticizing or desensitizing then i would like to think of how you would react if your child was taken from you because of an act of school violence. I'd like you to think about how it would feel to bury the child you raised and loved only to see their life, a life they had barely been given a chance to live, taken away from them because gun laws are too important to take away.
so in exchange for guns, we trade another innocent child's life.
Is this still funny? Are you having a laugh from where your ignorant ass stands?
you want to blame us? you want to say that it's our own fault that innocent children are dying? you want to say that they deserve it? that we deserve it? how about taking a look at our corrupt government, taking a look at who is running the show, who is really in control and then you can say something. try living in someone else's shoes and then you can talk.
whoever has no idea has no right to talk.
these are kids, children from 7-10 years old. Children who have hardly had a chance to grow up, to fulfill their dreams before everything was taken away. their parents never got to say goodbye, they never got to hold their child in their arms and tell them it would be alright. no, instead, they were alone and afraid and brutally murdered because one guy got happy go lucky with a gun.
again.
is this still a joke to you? do you still think you can "fix" the murderer? do you still feel bad for him?
whoever thinks this is funny, whoever thinks their living in some wattpad narrative, needs to wake the fuck up and smell reality.
just because this has never happened to you doesn't make it any less real, just because you don't live here and don't understand how things work or why we are so enraged or just how hard we have tried to change this, doesn't mean you can make a mockery of this. it doesn't mean you can blame an entire population for what their government does. it doesn't mean you can say that these kids, these families deserve this.
because no one deserves this.
and if you think otherwise, you disgust me.
