Zombieman nodded as he tossed a passing glance over at the news crew… who, in the moments the two heroes had begun talking, had become their captive audience…He was sure the lot of them were too far away to catch a lick of the conversation. The gunman wondered if they’d ever stop gawking at them like wild animals and finish up the interview so the two of them could leave. Part of him wanted to pretend to take a call, so they could fabricate a half ass excuse and cut it short.
“Yeah, that sounds fine.” He wondered idly what kind of place Flash lived in. The blond seemed very precise in what he did, from the way he fought to the way he dressed. Everything about him seemed meticulous.
But after their recent exchange, he’d discovered that appearances weren’t everything. For all he knew, Lightspeed Flash could be living in a trailer park, the very thought made his chest twitch as he suppressed laughter. He wondered how far was ‘far away’. City outskirts? Farther? Were they going to be walking there? He didn’t mind walking, but the second Flash started running, he was going to head home again and hop straight into bed.
“Just, y’know, make sure I can keep up with your pace. I don’t like to sweat.”
He hoped that he didn’t come off as so self-absorbed he didn’t pay any mind to what Zombieman wanted at the end of the day, like going to his own home. If he did--listen, the guy said it sounded fine. He can’t just take it back, it wouldn’t be fair. Then again, what was the likelihood of that mess. Even if Zombieman did want to go home in the middle of the trip, Flash was sure he wouldn’t be able to tell. He wouldn’t dwell on this. Hopefully talking to each other would distract them both.
Flash’s gaze had drifted away as time slowly passed, though upon Zombieman’s proposal, he immediately seemed to perk up. His eyebrows raised, and his eyes widened a bit, and he turned to stare at the man for a few, short moments. Then, he slowly smiled. His eyes softened and his eyebrows slowly fell again, and a small dimple formed right at the corner of his lips as they revealed a top row of pearly whites. Then, following the smile, a soft huff from his nose--the littlest laugh.
“I promise, I won’t leave you behind. We’re walking together, right?”
Nailed it. But surprisingly, Flash didn’t have to mull over what he said before he said it. The words just easily tumbled from his mouth like they had been ready to the very moment he smiled. This was... Better. Much easier on his stress.
