HOW SHOULD OUR LOVE BE?

not to get overly poetic about it but...nalu as a dynamic is kinda crazy to me like. what if we were best friends? what if we were kinda silly and ridiculous and stupid about each other? what if we were connected across time and space for 400 years? what if we bumped into each other on a random tuesday? what if you changed my life? what if we had a dogged, unwavering and irrational faith in each other right from the get go? what if the greatest tragedy of my life was directly linked to the greatest tragedy of yours? what if, in a different timeline, i watched you and the rest of my friends die, and there was nothing i could do about it? what if i watched a future version of you die and i sobbed over your broken body? what if you were my last tether to humanity? what if i broke the laws of magic to save you? what if you came back to me in the place we first met? what if we were meant to be in every single universe? what if we still chose each other, every single time, anyway?
So I saw on tiktok that Palestinian journalist, Bisan Owda, has called for a boycott of Spider-Man: Brand New Day because its producer, Avi Arad, has publicly supported the genocide of the Palestinian people and has defended Netanyahu
I’m also seeing that there are posts about it on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, but I’m not seeing any posts about it on Tumblr? Am I not looking up the right keywords in the search bar or are we all out of the loop?
(I can’t find the original post from Owda because I have the worst time navigating Instagram, but this link is from The Jamia Times on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/DblMMDKTyub/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ== )
[Image ID: Picture of a quote from Bisan Owda that reads: “Waiting for Zendaya and Tom Holland to say something about this maybe? We cannot separate art from accountability. Every ticket sold supports a production led by a producer who has publicly defended Israel’s war on Gaza. Boycott is one of the few peaceful tools we have to demand justice.” /End ID]
Colored this sketch that I did for a screencap redraw. [The OG sketch is available to Patrons~]
Creed is begging me to sketch him more now. 😂
Screencap:
As a parent, I'm feeling very unsettled by several people talking about a 15yo 'weaponising her suffering', and projecting 'manipulation' onto things like her having panic attacks
Unfinished Emilie and Adrien portrait sketch
People who think marinetes wrong for lying I feel like need to remember the superpowered circumstances
Marinette was going to tell Adrien about the letter until she saw that Adrien’s Heartbreak is enough to get her Akumatized, as the holder of the Ladybug Miraculous that’s not a risk she can take, she can’t gamble that seeing Adrien suffer from this realization won’t get her akumatized again which would jeopardize her handing the ladybug miraculous right to Chrysalis
And at this point she can’t just hand off her miraculous to someone else, last time she did that Monarch got his hands on the miraculous and they had to be taken back, plus who’d she hand them too? She can’t give them to Alya she’d know that and easily take them from her, she can’t have Tikki hand them to a rando, Marinette would fold any inexperienced holder
Marinette also knows the identities of every holder but cat noir, if she got Akumatized, it also jeopardizes all of the miraculouses
Now there’s the risk of Adrien getting Akumatized, and while Marinette doesn’t know hes cat noir there’s still major consequences that happen if he gets akumatized
In the 2 timelines where Adrien get Akumatized Marinette dies, (I’ve heard that they made it cannon she dies in the one where hawkmoth throws her)
If Adrien gets akumatized that jeopardizes the cat miraculous
the chance of chrysalis thrashing them is way too high for Marinette to be risking it
I can't say this enough, but I think that given the circumstances, neither choice—lying or telling the truth—was a "right" choice.
Let’s imagine for a moment that Marinette had chosen to tell the truth to Adrien and the entire world; it is easier than one might think to envision the consequences—different, certainly, but which, as Bunnix confirmed, would have entailed their own share of ups and downs.
If the burden of the lie is taking a toll on Marinette's mental health during Season 6, we can surely all agree that the truth would have equally damaged Adrien's mental health for a time. He would have had to come to terms with the fact that he had been living under the same roof as Monarch all along—that he had used his Cataclysm on his own father, and that his father’s goal was to bring back the wife whose life had been lost precisely because she had given birth to Adrien using the broken Peacock Miraculous. Add to that the compounded guilt of not having assisted Ladybug in the confrontation against his father—knowing she had faced him alone, that he had managed to seize her Miraculous, and that had she not managed to awaken the last traces of humanity in his heart, he would have sacrificed Ladybug’s life to bring his wife back.
We all saw how easily things escalated for Marinette in Revelator, for simply being the girlfriend of someone as famous as Adrien—combined with a random person badmouthing her on social media—which was enough for her to face near-harassment from Parisians with negative IQs. Do we really think Adrien would have been spared the Parisians's resentment, given the reputation of his criminal father hanging over his head ? Would Kagami and Felix have been spared, too? One for being the daughter of Monarch’s accomplice, and the other for being Monarch’s nephew ? Who knows if Marinette wouldn't have faced scorn from Parisians upon seeing her date the "son of Monarch"? Such circumstances might have led Adrien to want to break up with her to spare her trouble—much like how Marinette is currently considering breaking up with him because she feels she cannot offer him the sincerity he deserves.
Who knows if Adrien would have met his grandparents under the same circumstances as in canon and forged family ties with them ? Gabrielle and Johnny would have known their son had become a monster, while Millie and Emile would have discovered that their daughter's husband—whom they never approved of in the first place—turned out to be a criminal.
Before Lady Chaos, Adrien at least had the opportunity to explore his own identity without his father's shadow looming over him. Not to mention that without Nathalie acting as his guardian, who knows if Adrien could have even stayed in Paris before his aunt decided to move there. Given all these circumstances, it is entirely possible that Adrien might have even temporarily given up his Miraculous. And as Chrysalis herself pointed out in "Mister Agreste," Ladybug is vulnerable without her partner.
Not to mention that the Kingdom seemed caught off guard at the end of "El Toro de Piedra" by the fact that Ladybug had lied about Gabriel's true nature. Perhaps they had hoped Noé could reclaim the Agreste brand more easily with Gabriel's reputatuon in shamble. It is also quite possible that they would have tried to ruin Ladybug and Cat Noir's reputations anyway, even in this alternate reality. Because While it is easy to convince people that Gabriel Agreste and Monarch died because one sacrificed his life to eliminate the other, would Ladybug have found it just as easy to get them to accept the truth—that Monarch ultimately chose to abandon his original goal and sacrifice his life to save his dying partner ?
Who knows if the Kingdom wouldn't have tried to convince Parisians that Ladybug had killed the supervillain Gabriel Agreste with her own hands ? And some Parisians might not have praised her for it, given that Season 5—specifically the episode "Reunion"—showed us that Monarch had sympathizers. Who knows if some wouldn't have empathized with Gabriel Agreste's desire to bring his wife back to life, remaining indifferent to the fact that the price for doing so would have been the death of an innocent person?
Admittedly, the lie isn't a more enviable option; when the truth eventually comes to light, Ladybug risks losing her allies's trust and seeing all of Paris turn against her… yet the existence of Fury proves that a superhero can act in the shadows for the sake of good and justice, even while bearing a tarnished reputation and questionable methods
To preserve her team's cohesion and avoid the infamous "Civil War" fans seem to be anticipating, I think it would suffice for Ladybug to hand over leadership to Rena Rouge and Cat Noir. This would help soothe tensions among her teammates; most of them would likely understand her decision to shield Adrien Agreste and Kagami Tsurugi from the stigma of being the children of criminals—a situation that could have forced the pair to leave Paris for London, which would have devastated their friends.
While the eventual exposure of the lie will inevitably spark conflict, it won't necessarily spell the end for the heroes.
Of course, the lie does have a negative impact on Adrien, who struggles to come to terms with an abusive father whom the public hails as a hero.
He would have found it just as difficult to grieve even if he had known the truth—though he would have managed it with time. But will Adrien be able to go through a second grieving process once he realizes his initial mourning was based on a lie? I believe he will.
Things will have to get worse before they get better.

actually i want s7 to do a new level of dramatic irony where marinette THINKS she has formally broken up with Adrien but didn't realize she never actually said anything of the sort and so Adrien is like "gosh marinette's really upset about something and can't talk about it but i'll be here for her as her loyal boyfriend while we figure it out together" then ofc ladybug is all newly single and flirty with cat noir bc he is the only person who she trusts now but he is like "aha i enjoy our old flirtatious banter but i still have a girlfriend tho" and then marinette is like "wow its really nice of adrien to still hold my hand even tho i broke up with him and even tho i can't tell him about his dad he's really way too good of a person and therefore i can absolutely never tell him the truth"
do you see my vision
New fic I've been planning for a couple years and am finally posting!
Summary:
‘When you bring a living being into this world, you have a responsibility towards them. Your duty is to protect them, love them, help them discover the true meaning of their existence. To deprive them of that….’ He glanced sideways, sadness weighing on his heart. ‘It’s monstrous.’
A Felix-focused fic alternating my own backstory for him (inspired by canon) with his scenes in the show, written from his POV.
Background:
After two years of planning this ‘monster’, I present to you my take on the one and only Felix Fathom! I’m a big believer that Felix is one of the most interesting characters in the show – but he’s also one of the most misunderstood, due to not getting the level of screentime his part in the plot really merits. Sometimes, his behaviour seems erratic or highly questionable, but if you really examine the information provided by canon, his arc actually makes a lot of sense. Let's see if I can convince you!
Chapter 1 Preview:
Seated primly on his bedroom sofa, Felix turned the page of the book he was reading – The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky, in the original Russian. A bit of a challenge, but nothing he couldn’t work his way through. And so much better than reading it in translation.
He read it aloud. It was better that way, allowing him to taste each foreign word and practise his pronunciation. It was less lonely, too. A voice filling the unreasonably large room.
‘Что такое ад? Я утверждаю, что это страдание от того, что нельзя любить.’
He paused there. The line seemed to leap off the page, reaching into his chest and seizing his heart. Almost against his will, he read it again, this time in English.
‘What is hell? I maintain that it is the suffering of being unable to love.’

Miraculous is nuts cuz like it's adored by 4yos worldwide (because the first few seasons are as formulaic as it gets) so I always feel just a little embarrassed about wearing my t-shirt in public but then I go home and turn on season 6 and it's rapidly descending into a psychological horror featuring emotional warfare and sporadic scifi/fantasy representations of a bunch of random facets of our irl apocalypse and the hero/protagonist is gaslighting her boyfriend/partner/deuteragonist into questioning his very reality as she falls deeper into the pits of isolation and mental illness. The intended audience is God and anybody strong enough to buckle down and stay on the ride.

my son is such a stupid fuck. I shell out two or maybe even five dollars for his tutoring and he has the gall to ask if I’m going to marry nathalie. christ. what, just because I spent most of his childhood going around the world with her? and crying on her shoulder and neck and back and chest? and not sleeping in the same bed as my wife? what an idiot. what a fucking idiot.
Chat Noir is such a stupid fuck. I am a supervillain. I relentlessly akumatise people to try and take his miraculous, but he has the nerve to ask me if I’m dating Mayura? Christ. What, just because I carry her bridal style? And because I threw him off a building for her? And because I touch her at every given opportunity? What an idiot. What a fucking idiot.
Kinda bored with all the arguing and posturing on my dash. I'm not here to judge Marinette Dupain-Cheng for her lie. I'm here to find out what happens because she did.
no offense but you guys need to learn the difference between someone implying their experience is universal and a post simply just not being about you
Ryuko! She's so cool!!! :D
