You’re living, you occupy space, and you have mass.
You know what that means?
You matter
Mediator!
I have been waiting for these continuations of one of my favorite YA series, Mediator. My friend in high school had recommended me this series and it sounded so appealing that I started reading shadowland and then finished the rest of the series in no time. I have been reading Meg Cabot’s ever since.
One of the things I love about this book is the characters. The main character, Susannah, is a strong and stubborn kind of girl. A character which I definitely prefer to read, one whose world doesn’t center on a guy.
While the 8 books have the same plot, which is mediating ghosts, they have different interesting cases and the romance is there, too.
I heard about Meg Cabot’s plan to continue mediator series last year and she projected the book would be released in March. So I am delightfully surprised when it came out two months sooner. And I didn’t expect Proposal, either. I got the book immediately on the day it released (because I seriously can’t wait any longer) and read it on my kindle.
The end of the sixth book made me read a lot of its fanfictions because it just didn’t really seem like the end to me. But these two books (sort of) make it up for my long time curiosity.
First, Proposal is not what I expect it to be. It should be all sweet and romantic but no, it is hilarious (but touching at the same time). The proposal is far from ordinary, the one that doesn’t make you go “awww” but instead “oh god why”.
They think Jesse is what Father Dominic told them he is: a ”young Jesuit student who transferred to the Carmel Mission from Mexico, then lost his yearning to go into the priesthood” after meeting me. That one slays me every time.
The humor. I love how Meg Cabot describes Jesse because I picture this guy as a perfect spanish guy who is not really “manly” but cares so much about his girl that sometimes things turn so romantic yet so funny. And his adorable and frustrating eunuch-like-but-he-said-he’s-not ability to refrain himself.
Remembrance, the 7th book with 400 pages --not long enough for me :(--. gave me a lot of feels. Meg not only wrote happy endings for everyone, but she also succeeded in making me love the antagonist, Paul, in this book despite my hate on him in the previous installments. And of course, I ship Jesse and Susannah so much more that I can hardly move on now.
Overall, I really, really love Remembrance. It’s a perfect ending. Love the last chapters. Although still, I want more.
This story tells you the value and importance of family; it will also remind you of the happiness and sadness, joys and sorrows of childhood.
I’d seen it coming but 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Finally
So.....
Following the last post about my final project (thesis), it finally reached the due date and I had my thesis defense (which I failed to defend, really) two weeks ago.
About my thesis defense, it -not-surprisingly- did not really go according to what I had had prepared in my mind the day before. After I presented my thesis, I was given questions by two examining committees (juries). Simple questions, actually, but they confused the hell out of me.
I watched my friends having their thesis defense before me but I swear they didn’t get those kind of questions like I did. So, the moment I was asked, I knew I would screw it up (and i did). But i’d like to think that it (me not capable answering questions) is quite forgivable since the juries are the lecturers of my lecturers. Like, seriously the most senior (the oldest) and respected lecturers in my department. Fun fact: Both of them are married to each other and the wife is actually the one who holds a professor title. She got a little bit flustered when she knew she had to be a jury along with his husband.
When the thesis defense ended, I was really happy and close to crying out loud because it felt surreal and my friends immediately gave me handshakes like I was being the world champion. Also, the last thing the juries asked me was what I wanted to do after graduating. So they were kind of giving me hints that I had passed the test.
But the happiness apparently refused to linger long.
Because the moment I came back to my senses, I felt like I had failed my thesis defense and a week later, my friend (who is in the same project as me) overheard one of the jury (the husband) talked to other lecturers about our project and his disappointment towards it.
I don’t care about it right now, though, because yesterday we were supposed to get the announcement about the result after 3 days delay and a few hours ago, we were expecting the announcement but we got this instead:
I honestly don’t get what my lecturer intended to do when he posted that in the “final projects” facebook group at the time when we were supposed to get the announcement. And wrong grammar, too (my friend pointed out). But a few minutes later, another lecturer finally posted the most anticipated thing.
And it was a great news!
I saw my name on the list that says I have passed the examination. Thank God. Alhamdulillah. My four years journey finally ends and it is time to start another one.
Thank you for the people who has supported me through all these years and during my 8 months of doing the final project. Also, thanks for people who has come to congratulate me on the day I had my thesis defense, especially those who brought me a standee of my ultimate bias (you’re all the best!) that I wish I have my own house to bring it into. Also, the ones who gave chocolate bars and the balloons (i’m truly sorry that some of them flew and were stuck at the ceiling) and the meaningful book and even the first handshakes. :) :)
This video is a sneak peek (and overview) of my final project: atomic a.k.a automated microscope which is what I am currently working on (the #1 and #4 specs btw). I want need this to be as well as I planned it to be.
Cold oh cold
So I'm thinking about taking a master degree in Canada. But suddenly this very moment I feel freezing inside my room. I checked the temperature: 22 degrees celcius. And then I googled Canada:
My itunes' most played song finally has its own official video. I thought this song was kind of underrated because it has less popularity than other songs in Maroon 5's album "V". But they proved me wrong! Great, sweet, romantic video!
What I do when a facebook chat suddenly pops up calling me but nothing follows.
There was this woman who actually wrote a poem after finding a spanning tree algorithm as the solution of LAN's looping problem.
How do you even find arts in computer networks.....
A punch in the gut.
We go forward.
