Suzuka shakes her head, “I can make it to the end…” I hope, “I’ll make it to the end, and I’ll tell you, I promise.” She says, her breath already evened out.
Wincing when she sees Bria’s discomfort, Suzuka awkwardly blows bubbles into the water. “Sorry, I didn’t know…And I’ll be fine. I promise.”
Without another word, Suzuka disappears underwater again. Minutes pass, and before long, an entire hour passes and the lifeguard hasn’t returned. She couldn’t have drowned, could she? She’s smarter than that, and she should know better…But, what if-
A splash at the bottom of the well announces her reappearance. Panting, Suzuka calls up at Bria, “H-hey…can you throw down the rope? I…I’m gonna come out.”
Bria nods unsurely as Suzuka promises her that she’ll be fine. A promise is all very well, and she believes in Suzuka’s talent, but... water is so dangerous.
She sits by the well slowly gaining a neckache as she stares down and down and Suzuka doesn’t reappear. Five minutes, ten minutes, fifteen.....
At half an hour, she stands up and decides to go and look for someone to help, but then catches herself thinking - what if Suzuka came up right then, and she wasn’t there?
She lies down again. After an hour, she thinks.
An hour passes. Bria has torn out most of the grass by the wellside and started making a daisy chain, mostly out of anxiety, when she sits up with a start at the sound of splashing down below.
“O-oh my goodness! You are all right! O-of course!”
She hastily scrambles to her feet, wincing at the crick in her neck, and throws down the rope.
