Kaito returns to earth and wakes up the next morning and starts counting—seconds, footsteps, days. The stars are behind him, and above him, and all around him really, but he’s still not among them, and every second away from them his heart aches further.

Due to Shuichi’s job at his uncle’s detective agency, his and Kaito’s apartment is in Tokyo. It’s a nice little spot with a balcony and lots of sunlight, but its location also means that at night when the sun goes down, Kaito stares up at the sky and sees nothing but empty blue.
