Thanks for playing along, everyone! Now that the shutdown has ended, our pets have to return to their normal lives of napping all day and peeing on things. But they deeply appreciate the opportunity you all have given them to air their grievances on the internet.

Since exactly no one submitted a caption for our caption contest, we were forced to take matters into our own paws and create this diagram explaining the shutdown and its epic conclusion. Behold: America wrests reason, logic, and the rule of law from the clenched jaws of the Tea Party.
We're not too proud of our creation... but a lot of people have things not to be proud of in these last two weeks.
Daisy and Moon are both available for adoption in the DC area through Rural Dog Rescue.

JACK NEEDS A HOME! Jack, the dog with the World's Saddest Eyes, is looking for his forever home in the greater Washington, D.C. area.
From Rural Dog Rescue:
Jack is between 3 and 5 years old, most likely an English Setter mix, and weighs about 45 pounds. He has been in foster care for over a month now and really needs to find a good home with a fenced backyard. He is house trained and crate trained. He likes to bark and chase cats and although he's never actually hurt one, it’s stressful for the cat so a home without cats would be best. Jack had emergency surgery recently for bladder stone removal and is currently on a prescription diet. We encourage any adopter to contact a holistic vet for dietary guidance but in the interim he has to stay on his prescription diet, which is easily available at most vets' offices. Jack loves to play with other dogs. He seems to think that he is a lap dog and will crawl right up in your lap and lay across you -- he loves to cuddle or just lay at your feet. He is a very loyal dog and loves to be around his family. He’s just a super nice dog and would make an excellent addition to any family’s home.
