Bingo. It was an easy enough strategy, really. An offhanded remark about a female lead, and it usually perked an interest. “The second Wonder Girl, Cassie Sandsmark. Daughter of Zeus.” He explained, pointing to the young blonde on the cover. “With an older Starfire, of course.” Though they weren’t quite as cheerful as the cartoon versions. Starfire was a brute, he was certain this girl would figure that out fast. 

"Of course," he nodded, walking a little further until he reached a small portion with different series of Teen Titans. "You want these ones. Volume three. It has seven issues. And if you enjoy them, I can always recommend something similar."

She nodded as her talked, looking at the art on the cover as he spoke, noting which one he indicated. She was sure it'd tell her once she started reading but it didn't hurt to know anything ahead of time, did it? It wasn't like it was a spoiler to know which character which... She was curious, she'd seen the show, sort of. An episode here or there if it counted. But it usually it resulted in her brother talking through it all and her walking out to read in her room.

She picked up the one indicated. "Will I miss much if I don't get Volumes One and Two?" She questioned, she'd buy them if she had to, she wasn't uninterested. She just really liked the idea of a female super hero. A small part of her wishing she could be something like that... wouldn't that be fun? Maybe then people would notice her before they tripped over her.

“Teen Titans?” Zane repeated, grinning widely at that, “That was my life a few years ago!” Comic books and horror movies had been his main interests growing up, and up until theatre came into his life, he’d always thought that he’d be a comic book illustrator when he grew up, “That’s really cool!”

Violet managed a smile when he suddenly burst to life. "Really? I just-... got into comic books." She admitted. "I- don't know many, this is what I was recommended. I've read the first one." She turned him to show him which she meant. Teen Titans: A Kid's Game. It was the one the man at the comic book store suggested first. "It's great."

  Noticing a girl about her age she wondered if she should approach her. Perhaps she wanted to be alone? Deciding to walk over towards her she then gave her a smile. 

   ”Hey I think you used to go my school right?”  She asked, a hopeful look upon her face, she thought she had seen her around a fair few times, alone; rather like her in a way.

Violet looked up when a girl's voice sounded near her, that was strange, that someone bothered. Everyone here was so pretty. Dressed up in amazing gowns and suits. Dancing like she'd never really seen before... It was beautiful.

She nodded slightly at the girl's question. She'd noticed her, she noticed most people at least by face. She seemed quiet, not someone that was here to bother her or anything.

"I- uh…" he tried to think of what to say, shifting his weight from one leg to the other as he continued to play with his earbuds, worrying his lips for a moment before her books caught his eyes, and he stepped in a bit closer to get a better look, "So… whatcha reading? Anything good?"

"It's uh- The Dragon Riders of Pern... by Anne McCaffrey. a-and Teen Titans..." She blushed a bit, not because of the comic books, just about having someone ask her about herself. It was something she usually avoided.

A laugh. It was a perfect sign he’d started to hook her. Part of the sale was selling himself. If they didn’t enjoy the experience, they’d go somewhere else. He smiled fondly, false but oh so convincing. 

"Action. Great choice." He replied cheerfully, looking over the display. She seemed unsure. Definitely a new reader. Something easy, popular, and interesting. Plucking a comic from the stand, he held it to the girl. "Maybe this. Teen Titans: A Kid’s Game. It has a heap of second generation heroes, like Kid Flash, Superboy, Wonder Girl and the likes. Not to mention a fight between the older Titans and the Justice League."

She rubbed the back of her neck nervously, she felt sort of awkward, his attention was only on her at the moment and it was weird. She was used to hiding in the back, away from people. Not having someone focus on her and try to help her. It threw her off and made her strangely uncomfortable. But she didn't know comics well enough to find something on her own. It'd be like looking for a specific needle in a pile of needles.

Violet watched where he got the comic from and then looked back to him as he held it out to her. She took it from him gently and looked it over. She grinned. "Wonder Girl?" She looked at the cover, it fascinated her. "Is there... more, of this one?" She questioned. Wondering if there would be more of this series. It looked good, and it wasn't just a bunch of guys fighting. It made no sense to her that there were so few females in many comics.

She was stupid to go, but her mother had said it would be a good idea. That maybe it'd... she didn't know... help her? Or something. It seemed ridiculous that going to stand with a large group of people would help her break out of her bubble and get over being shy. 

But it didn't. In fact she just kind of wished the wall would eat her.

Tolerance

Violet has a very high tolerance for being ignored or annoyed, or pushed or shoved. She's used to feeling like she'd being ignored. Like she's invisible. In fact, often times she wishes she really was invisible. Or could do so at her own will at least... but despite all of this her tolerance with her little brother, Dash is lacking. She loves him and would go after anyone who tried to hurt her... but he's really the only person who can get under her skin with a few words. Perhaps that's from all his years of tormening her, he doesn't even have to try anymore.

Crash Course in Invisibility || OPEN

Violet had her school books in her hand, she'd just been at the library brushing up on a few lessons from the previous year. She wanted to make sure they were fresh in her mind. She was minding her own business when a group of kids about her age ran past. One knocking her book, pencil case and her new comic book on the ground. She dove for that first, she hadn't even started that one! She couldn't let it get ruined she was already invested in the characters from the first one. She picked that up and carefully tucked it into her folder to keep it safe while she gathered up her notes,books and writing utensils.

"Well congratulations on graduating, how fun! Does that mean you’ll be attending the college soon?" Bianca grinned brightly. She shuffled her stuff around, placing it on her lap instead so the girl would have more room. "I’m Bianca. You’ll have to remind me of your name, I am so terrible with names, faces I can remember forever and a day but names, they just pass over my head sometimes."  Her feet kicked back and forth like a little kid excited to talk with someone new.

She nodded. "I plan on going this year actually." Violet gave a nervous little smile. "Are you in college?" She bit her lip, trying to keep the conversation flowing, though it appeared this girl had no issue doing so. Which was a relief to Violet. She couldn't help a little laugh, hoping it didn't seem rude, at the other girl's explanation. "Its fine... " She didn't expect anyone to remember her name really, she was surprised someone remembered her face. "I'm Violet."

Boston was a salesman through and through. He had to be to be successful. He wasn’t fond of people, and this girl was no exception. But he could hide that very well when he needed to. “I can recommend the whole store,” he joked, walking around from the desk to join her. A new customer meant possible future purchases, and regular visits. It was vital to leave an impression, and find just what they were looking for.

"What are you looking for?" He asked, looking towards the display she’d been heading to. "Marvel? DC? Action? Drama? Romance?" The last one wasn’t a great seller.. but everyone seemed to have peculiar tastes. He doubted she was a collector, so casual reading was probably best.. A volume that could stand on its own without the need of prior knowledge..

She smiled slightly at his comment, a small chuckle even passing her lips. But she didn't say anything on it, just hugging her notebook to her chest as she glanced around the store before looking back to the cashier man who'd spoken to her. She'd never really looked into this stuff-- and it was all quite intimidating, she hadn't realized just how many different series and variations there were... what had she gotten into?

She wouldn't turn around now even if hse contemplated what it would be like to melt back into the display and just disappear. "I- " She paused blinking. There was even more thna just looking around made it appear... "Action. Definitely Action... " She decided she wanted superheros, not romance. Not that she was't interested in that-- she just didn't want to read about it. She'd rather get lost in a day dream of saving the world...

"No, listen, it’s not going to happen. I need that shipment in by Monday. It is not negotiable.” Boston hissed quietly, holding a phone to his ear and hiding himself away behind the front desk. He was the only one manning the store at that time, but it wasn’t exactly his busiest day. He only have a handful of customers, and they were all regulars and perfectly capable of handling themselves around the store. Turning towards a corner, he pointed forward as if the person on the other end could see him. Stupid, really, but he was frustrated. Why was everyone incompetent!?

A bell sounded, and he spared a glance behind himself to notice a young woman enter. She wasn’t familiar, not a regular of his whoever she was. Paying no mind, he returned to his call. “Look, you’ve got until Monday to get me my order, or I’ll go with someone else. And, trust me, I make good on my threats.” Hanging up, he put the phone on the cradle, soothing back his hair. Goddamn he hated people. Turning his attention back to the newcomer, he spoke up, “Can I help you?”

Violet had been writing all morning and had hit a block. Not that the story was very solid as it was. It was a bit everywhere, but she'd connect it all later. She just wanted to get the ideas down when she had them. But then she'd simply run out of ideas for the time being. And gone for a walk. She'd been out for only about 20 minutes when a group of kids she'd gone to school with started walking behind her. One such was a boy she sort of had a crush on... of course they didn't even acknowledge her. So to avoid them for now she ducked into the next shop she saw.

Which happened to be Boston's comic book store. She didn't even look up when she entered, she wasn't really into comic books. She never really knew why. Perhaps it was too much of a reminder of why her parents moved to this little town to begin with. Why she felt like she didn't belong here. But she didn't want to just turn around and leave... so instead she walked towards a display, the man behind the counter catching her attention before she picked on up. She bit her lip. She wanted to ask if they had something good. Something interesting, Maybe she'd actually buy one... She'd already seen all of Mr.Incredible her brother loved it... he had lots of comics. But she wanted something that wasn't Superman or whatever. Maybe a team, x-men was it? Or a woman. Or-- anything that her brother wouldn't take. "Do you have any recommendations... maybe?"

"Guess we are," Zane nodded in agreement, wringing his hands in front of himself, wondering what he was supposed to do now, "I- uh… sorry." He’d begun wrapping his earbuds around his phone, before undoing them, then wrapping them around once again, a nervous habit of his. He was usually okay around people, awkward, but okay, but then again, he usually didn’t crash into them. "I… I’m Zane, hi," he tried, raising his hand slightly in a hello, wondering if that was okay.

Violet hugged her books to her chest and looked at the boy. He seemed just as awkward as she was. Which, amusingly enough put her a bit at ease. She wasn't particularly convinced she was alone in being shy and awkward, but it was always easier for her to talk to someone who wasn't going to try to make her talk more. "Hi." She waved a little in response. "I'm Violet."

Bianca was not shy, just quiet, she had a sweet demeanor and even though she loved being by her mother’s side taking care of her, being around others made her just as a happy. She didn’t like being by herself for too long, she was always around someone whether it was her sister or mother or the nurse, someone was around and she enjoyed the company.  When she caught sight of the girl from one of her classes she waved again, this time more quietly and with a bright grin on her face. Moving her things around Bianca made room for the small brunette. She tried to remember her name. It started with a V, she could remember that much. Perhaps it would come to her in a moment. “Go on, please sit. No one else is here. We share classes don’t we, at school? “

Violet was simply used to being alone. Used to being ignored, or simply not seen. It was better that way. She wouldn't have to worry about anyone recognizing her. She was often torn between wishing she could talk more adn the simply comfort of being able to keep to herself. Keep her stories to herself. It was easier. It made life simply. Lonely. But simple. She smiled ever so slightly when the girl remembered her. No one ever remembered her. "We... we did, yes. I just graduated." She admitted quietly, she was about to go into college. It would be exciting... maybe she'd even get the guts to take the courses she wanted.

The day was too beautiful to stay inside her mother insisted, even Martha her mother’s nurse put her two cents in. A little fresh air would do her wonders, and as long as she was back before dinner time, then it really would be no trouble. With her homework in her bag and an umbrella she left the house and sauntered around the town. Making her way to Granny’s she got her self a piece of pie and some milk before settling herself on a table outside. For awhile she watched as people shuffled on by, if she happened to catch their eye she’d give a smile. Among the many faces there was one she really recognized and brightly smile and waved, she called out. “Hello there! Care to join me?”

Violet was just-- walking. She'd gotten into a fight with her stupid little brother and she wasn't in the mood to be at home. So she'd left. Ignoring her mother's calling after her. It wasn't like anything bad was going to happen anway. It was just Storybrooke. What could happen in Storybrooke? She walked along, she'd forgotten her iPod at home too in her anger, so for once she caught the voice calling out to her as she made eye contact with a woman she recognized from one of their classes. She was older than Violet herself but it was an extracurricular they'd shared. When the girl invited her to sit with her, she blinked a few times, glancing about to see if she'd possibly misunderstood. "I-... sure." She offered a nervous smile. Usually she'd just have kept walking but it was a weird day and she felt like maybe, just maybe company for a short while wouldn't be the worst idea in the world.

Zane was walking home, taking a shortcut through a lesser used corner of the park to get straight to his street. He’d spend most of the day there, people watching and doodling, what he often found himself doing when he had nothing better to do. Basically, he was there whenever he wasn’t working. Usually he’d people watch on the way home too, so he had something to draw and could lock himself away in his room, where his stepmom wouldn’t bother him, but today he’d ended up listening to music loudly, slightly dancing to it as he walked, unaware anyone else was around. That was, until he nearly crashed into a girl, and Zane immediately yanked out his earbuds, making the most awkward face as the girl apologized to him, “No! It’s fine! It’s my bad!”

Violet tugged her own ear buds out of her ears in time to be able to peice together what the bio had said. "Still- sorry..." She shrugged gently, not really knowing what else to say to him. "Guess we're just both...at fault..." She pointed out. This was why she usualyl avoided people she was awkward and well- she didn't know what to say. Some days she was completely invisible to the world, those days were her favorites. Other days she just wished she could be so invisible that no one spoke to her or so much as glanced her way. Those were the best days.

Wendy was out to get groceries before her parents got home. She had made the boys donuts for breakfast, and hadn’t realized until after she was done that she had used the last of the biscuit dough. After a thorough examination of the fridge she had determined what they needed and made her way out. On her way home, she cut through the park. She wasn’t paying attention to where she was going- too distracted by the beautiful sights around her, people and nature alike- when she almost bumped into someone. The girl immediately apologized, and Wendy didn’t manage to stop herself before laughing.

"Sorry, sorry," she quickly said. "I didn’t mean to laugh. But I’d been about to apologize as well. I wasn’t looking where I was going."

Violet's eyes widened a bit as the other girl started laughing... tuggin out her headphones she blinked a few times in surprise. Well that was... unexpected. She expected to get a glare, or yelled at, or jsut brushed off. Maybe a muttered sorry and someone hurrying on their way. But this girl just laughed. It made a slight smile tug at Violet's lips at the way she seemed so happy. Violet didn't know what there was to be so happy and giggle about but whatever it was she wanted to know.

"I wasn't either, I guess it takes two not paying attention to run into each other after all..." She offered, though she still looked like she wished to be able to shrink back into invisibility.

Violet was walking home from the park. She didn't really go often, but there was a corner of it that no one  really bothered her in. In fact, she felt like they didn't even know she existed when she was there. And that she was okay with. However, with her music up loud and headphones blocking out she glanced aside for a moment and someone stepped in front of her. She held her hands up. "Sorry!" Times like this she really did wish she was invisible...
