" soft words spoken over the phone, she paces across the kitchen, moonlight her only aid in steering clear of walking into furniture. she spends a moment too long staring at the phone in her hand before putting it away, finger wrapped around the chord, crinkle deepening inbetween her eyebrows the more she tries to keep her tears at bay. it's not a big deal – her grandmother is only getting older. the passing of time is just making its mark & it's been a while since they last spoke, too. she could come up with a million logical explanations as to why she hesitated when she first greeted her. why the sound of her name caused confusion on the other line. but it's late. emotions are high. & all she can think about is loss & heartbreak, what lives on & who doesn't. & just when she looks for something sturdy to hold on to, a hand is on her shoulder, startling her & turning her around. her face regains a stoic expression, though her eyes still shine with the tears she's yet to spill. he asks if everything's okay. her first instinct is to lie. " yeah. yeah, i'm alright. just completely knackered. " the silence is deafening after that. when it comes to lyring to yourself, it takes one to know one. it's only when he pulls her into his arms that she feels relief instead of embarrassment, the tension in her muscles fading as she buries her head into his chest & lets him watch her shed the armor. just this once.

there's genuine joy in her eyes at the sound of that. she's no stranger to the turmoil daisy's gone through – it would be enough to drive anyone mad. but she never once doubted the strength in this woman's heart. she never once stopped rooting for her, hoping she'll find some well deserved peace. & right now, she looks almost... serene. " i'm glad. really, daisy, you look great – & this house is fantastic.
