like the betrayal’s always going to be worse if they cared about you and it didn’t matter. someone discards you because they didn’t give a shit, then you can be angry about that, you can feel vindicated in that, you can get over it. but if they can look you in the eyes and say “I love you. I would make the same choice again.” You will never sleep peacefully again, is all.
“I thought they cared about me, but they were lying this whole time.” <- tired. boring. removes all the nuance of this relationship to make it easier to move on from.
“I thought they cared about me, and I was right, and every minute they were there for me, every time they said they were proud, every laugh we shared leaning against each other bruised and breathless, all of it was real. and they still left me behind. They could put their love aside. I couldn’t.” <- insane. will never leave you alone. reminds you that even the worst people are still people and can still care about even the ones they hurt the most and that undoes neither the harm nor the love.
paul simon handing art garfunkel the grammy for record of the year on behalf of olivia newton-john stimboard
our romantic second chance is dead, i buried it with the hatchet...
...what a bisexual way to start an interview
the song artie sang in the talent show in which paul first remembers hearing him sing with his "beautiful, angelic voice"
i woke up thinking about the tuxedo shirt
i meant to add art talking about paul cutting him from the album/inviting him to the wedding but i couldn't be bothered to search through all the radio interviews so just imagine that's also in there
i started looking for a warning sign...

i'm making the nastiest s&g edit right now btw it's 5 and a half minutes long
I LOCKED IN 💪💪💪
Letterman 2003—one of my favorite live versions of The Boxer ever. Maybe a hair rough around the edges in places but it’s so beautifully stripped-back and intimate, and the genuine affection between them during the Old Friends tour just adds to it.
I had screen-recorded this performance off of YouTube after Central Park disappeared, and sure enough, this version vanished from YouTube the next month. Figured I’d attempt to immortalize it here—enjoy :)
Edit to apologize for the sound still being out of sync with the video—I’ve tried to realign it but it seems to fall out of pace halfway through no matter how much I shift it. Will try again tomorrow.
their synchronisation on maybelline is absolutely WILD
i guess being gay in their basements really paid off
no, because you dont understand-
the line "I'll take your part"
and not, 'i'll have your back' 'i'll take your side' 'i'll be there for you'
part. PART.
Part is something that is directly tied to music and acting and has no other frame of relevance- this phrase isn't cute and sweet and supportive- it is literally saying "I will write you out of my work, I will write you out of my life- and then I will take what was once yours and make it mine."
