GO RANE VOTE RANE!!!!! They stuck by their doomed crush throughout his mental breakdown up until the very moment he drowned them, and before that they shadow-ran the cult he started!

They also! Literally refused to give up on the act that their doomed crush was Totally Sane And Fine And Great Actually up until the LITERAL moment they drowned!! They ALSO at the same time were using that doomed crush as a figurehead for their own political agenda the whole time, while fooling everyone including themself into believing the opposite was true

Shelby is incredibly strong, carries and cleaver on her at all times, call hot by her girlfriend many times and does some pretty incredible thing to save said girlfriend and believes kiss her (Shelby) must be like kissing a corpse.

this is my piece for the @zineoftideandflesh TSV zine 2026! i'm very taken with this idea of carpenter as a broken vessel - here depicted as a cracking ancient greek amphora. it was fun!

Artwork submission for this year's @zineoftideandflesh! The irony of this quote is perfect for the piece it turned out to be. Thoughts and close-ups beneath the cut.

So, something I've really wrestled with during this piece is horror vacui, and how it resonated with my view of Mercer. Even though the Beast has crowded Mercer across more than half the canvas, I could not stop seeing spaces and gaps in the Beast that took me a conscious effort to resist filling in.

This anxiety to fill the space through and within the overt presence of the Beast struck me as a parallel of Mercer's aggressive revision of any hint of uncertainty in the Beast, exerting on Gage a directorial control of "where to look" as she presses on. What is "real" to Mercer, however, illustrates in this work as a violent unreality that forces upon our eyes, a dreaming that obscures the landscape, concealing the path behind her. Is the Beast then a creature pursuing its prey, a trail growing behind her steps, or a weight dragged forward by her momentum?
