She understood that snort, she knew Silver way too well – and she could simply nod. Normal wasn’t always normal, but that wasn’t their reality, either.
“Oh, it’s no trouble.” Scarlett looked back at where she imagined John would be, “Little can lighten him up lately, I’m glad you could manage to do that.” She shooke her head, “Apparently I lost this ability – at least for now.”
Silver’s brow furrowed for a split second before she smoothed it out. It frightened her that she hadn’t notice anything change. Not with John, not with Scarlett. She hadn’t noticed until just now.
“I wouldn’t say I lightened him up per say. Just fed him shots until he got really protective over the Jack Daniels.” She kept it light, trying not to draw attention to the fact that her power couple seemed to be having a tough time. “Scarlett, it’s like you want me to ask and I know you’re not going to tell me.” She finally addressed the entire frostiness of the interaction, unable to hid behind a wall of indifference. “I’m here for you. For both of you.”
