She thought for a quick moment before responding. “Perhaps we could do some arraignments that can promote feelings of peace and comfort? While my hope is to bring more life into the offices, it would be nice to do so while giving the message that we are in a safe and peaceful place as well.“

She thought for a moment and moved about to gather some small cattails, some azaleas, and some white heather. She put them on the desk and tapped her finger against her chin for a moment before adding some calla lilies and lilies of the valley. “Does this look good? It’s a little unconventional and I can absolutely put together some more classical bouquets as well. I would also suggest potted plants. They’re a little more long-term than cut flowers.”

“Yes!” Beleg reached out to touch the flowers she’d gathered as though introducing himself to each of them. “Is it?” He gave a soft snort. “I suppose he is a bit. But I’m sure I’m just as much of a pain to him.” His fingers had gone back to the marigold’s petals. “Do own this shop?”

Celebrían turned and gathered some small yellow roses to add to the arrangement. “Yes, the old owner opened another store and I offered to buy this store and run it as a franchise. The other store is in a somewhat more upscale location but I love it here.”

She adjusted the arrangement and wrapped the flowers, ringing them up with the single marigold. “Do you want a vase for the arrangement or a small vial for the marigold? It’s only a small additional charge.”

Being a therapist brought many challenges, whether it was dealing with a client having a difficult day or insurance companies who don’t understand the value of talk therapy. However, sometimes these challenges where more pleasant, such as bring more life and color into the waiting area and offices. What would normally be the secretary’s job had fallen upon her shoulders and the weight was hardly noticeable over her excitement for the task.

The ding of a bell greeted her upon entry, followed quickly by one of the owner, bringing a smile to her lips. “Hello, I am from Healing Haven Therapy Center, just down the way. I was wondering if we could get some floral arraignments made up to bring more life to our offices?”

Celebrían smiled, “I’d be absolutely delighted to. What did you have in mind? We specialize in messages based on Victorian flower language, but I can also make an exception and just put something colorful together if that’s what you’d prefer.”

Beleg’s attention finally, fully shifted to her, eyes bright at the news. “Can you send something that’s like… um, ‘You’re a pain, but my bff’?” He’d planned to find something to brighten up Túrin’s place, but this would be better. “And I’ll take this too,” he said picking up the single marigold.

She laughed softly and gathered wallflowers, tansies, arborvitae, and some sprigs of ivy. “Would you like some roses? I have some yellow roses that would be perfect for that message.” She placed the gathered flowers on the counter, “I have to admit, that’s a new phrase for me to translate. Your friend must be quite a character.”

She stood up to put it on her sister’s head and then moved to place herself in Celebrian’s lap and snuggled closely.

The sisters walked into the dining hall of Lord Elrond to find him and their mother already waiting for them. “Nana!” Aureriel smiled running to her mother and embracrd her.

Celebrían smiled and watched her little sister’s enthusiastic greeting of their mother. She followed at a more sedate pace, though there was a decided spring in her step when she saw Elrond standing there with her mother. She nodded at both of them, “I was teaching Aure to dance. I predict she will be quite good at it in no time.”

Glorfindel let out a heavy breath, before offering Celebrian a small smile that did not quite reach his eyes. “I’m sure that you have more important things than to listen to my complaints,” he said with a bit of a shrug before back to the rock he was holding in his hands. “What is happening now is more important than my mind being stuck in the past anyway.”

Celebrían smiled, “That sounds wonderful. I will never turn down the opportunity to drink with a dear friend if said friend is willing to listen to my gripes about the tedium of council meetings. Or trade negotiations.”

Glorfindel could not resist laughing at Celebrian’s statement. “I can promise you good wine, and a comfortable seat for sure. I’ve been told that I am a good listener, so gripe all you want, as long as you are alright with me laughing if the people at the meeting were too ridiculous.”

“You are more than welcome to laugh. I will need a good laugh after this meeting, I’m quite sure.” She chuckled slightly, “But I am very much looking forward to this after-meeting chat now.”

Celebrían mumbled a curse as she almost dropped a container of gloxinia. It was a busy day, curse June and July for being everyone’s and their mother’s wedding anniversary, and she hadn’t eaten properly at lunch. She readjusted her grip and finished putting the container where she had been heading. She took a deep breath and wiped at her face, although it was cool in the store she had been rushing about for most of the morning.

She heard the bell ding and her smile automatically went back up. “Welcome to Hollyhock and Lavender! What message can we send for you today?” She looked up to see a man, slightly older than her, but with equally pale hair. He didn’t seem the sort to be buying a last minute anniversary bouquet, she wondered what he was doing here.

Beleg beamed back at the shopkeeper. He didn’t go right to the counter, his attention caught by a small handful of marigolds. Gently, he traced his fingers over the cluster of petals, then looked back over at the woman. “You send messages? Like written or…?” He had heard of sending meanings with flowers. “You don’t happen to sell herbs too, do you?”

So far he hadn’t been able to step away from the marigolds, though his eyes looked over the rest of the shop, a smile fixed on his face.

Celebrían smiled, “We specialize in bouquets based on Victorian flower language. You tell me what you want to say and I help you find the flowers to match.” She wiped some water of her hands and approached the customer. “We do carry herbs, though I’ll need to know what you’re looking for.”
