riverclan — year one — newleaf
the first newleaf for every clan is something of allegiances. i go through all of the allegiances for the prophecies begin and identify every cat, then cross-reference their other apperances to identify their age.
i generally assume cats are dead if they don’t appear in tpb, but as we shall see, i am willing to make assumptions. this process isn’t perfect, especially for riverclan and shadowclan (windclan has a full list of cats in fire and ice, allowing me to make some reasonable assumptions moving forward), so there may be minor tweaks in future seasons. that said, i feel reasonably confident in this list.
leader: crookedstar (25 seasons, 9 lives). i don’t have any information on his lives, so i’m assuming he has all of them.
deputy: oakheart (25 seasons). remember, this is before the events of into the wild.
seer: mudfur (29 seasons). he’s a warrior at the beginning of crookedstar’s promise, and given how high he’s listed, i find it likely he’s closer to 40 seasons. however, i always err on the side of maximizing longevity, which means keeping him as young as possible.
greypool (22 seasons). i have no reason for her to be an elder. she’s younger than oakheart. since we don’t have confirmation of her as an elder in into the wild, i’m taking liberties.
frogleap (18 seasons). he doesn’t appear in the prophecies begin, but he’s the father of mosspelt’s kits, implying he’s alive.
stonefur (13 seasons). (apprentice: shadepaw.)
whiteclaw (11 seasons). i had no information to go on for his age, so i decided to interpret the fact that he was both leopardfur’s apprentice and a viable mate for leopardfur as him being exactly two years younger than her. i try to only give apprentices to warriors eight seasons and older, and this keeps their ages as close as possible.
silverstream (6 seasons).
mosspelt (5 seasons). i have no information about her age, but she doesn’t appear in crookedstar’s promise, so i’ve made her the youngest she can be while that is still true. she’s now greenflower’s sister, because i say so.
shadepaw (2 seasons). (mentor: stonefur.) stays behind, as an elder, in dawn, so i’ve pushed her to be as old as possible. since she appears as an apprentice in fire and ice, and into the wild covers two seasons, she has to be a first season apprentice in it.
greenflower (5 seasons). everything about mosspelt applies. her litter is heavykit and silverkit, newborns. making heavystep and silverpaw siblings does not impact the family tree, nor does making greenflower their mother change anything.
heavykit and silverkit’s ages were chosen as heavystep becomes a warrior in a dangerous path, implying he’s around a year old.
