Bad News

I’m very sorry to all of you, my loyal followers, but I have to say it.

Silvertwist Confections is closing down, for good.

I started this blog as a way of dealing with some things I’ve moved past by now, and trying to work on this just... Takes me back to a bad time in my life.

The main point of this blog was to separate Silver Spoon from Diamond Tiara and give her her own personality and some character development.  She reminded me of myself, at a time in my life when I was also attached to someone widely seen as a bully, before I could start to see how she was treating me poorly.  As such, I wanted to take Silver out of that situation, like I had eventually rescued myself.

I wanted to put mine and Silver’s similar, shared stories out there, show that there was a way to a better, happier day.  I wanted to encourage anyone else who felt like they had no friends but ones that treated them badly that things got better, if they were brave enough to break away.

This history, completely unresolved on Silver’s part, set a somewhat dark, angsty cast over the whole blog, coloring Dinky’s end to her adventures with the Doctor, and amplifying Twist’s own issues with Apple Bloom and people leaving her.  It’s not something I enjoy writing anymore.

And while I could, theoretically, say ‘oh, this stuff happened,’ I can’t just avoid the bad things that happened in Silver’s past, or anyone else’s.  That’s over half the story.  This blog was about three mares outrunning their problems they didn’t want to face, pretending they were perfectly happy with themselves and their lives, making a name for themselves far away from the issues they had once faced.  It was a story about how we need to resolve things before we’re really free of them.

And my issues are resolved.  That was my initial motivation behind this blog, and the driving force behind it.

It’s time for me to move on.  I’m sorry.

Updates Forthcoming!

The good news: I have found my sketchbook with the updates in it! The bad news: I am moving into the university dorms in the next couple of days! What this means: I have one finished update, two updates awaiting color, and one more sketched out. They will be queued up in the next couple of weeks, but I don't know when. But they exist! And this blog isn't quite dead yet!

Hiatus Apologies and Question Redirects

Sorry, but I needed a break.  A lot of things have happened, and I wound up with very little time to draw this holiday.  I needed a few weeks to recharge.  I should be back to drawing for the blog soon; just a couple more days to get back into the swing of things.  I've been playing with my tablet, too, getting some more practice with it.  So there may be a few art style changes.

Aaaanyways, I'd like to apologize for the unexpected hiatus, and let you all know that this train will be back up and running soon.  For the sake of my motivation, I'm going to pause the worldbuilding after Rarity and then a bit over Twilight.  Then it's on to the main story and the start of Silver's history with Diamond.

I would like to address the main focus of my questions, though.  I seem to get a lot about Silver, very few about Twist, and none about Dinky or Featherweight.  I would like to point out that all four of these adults and the two foals are supposed to be the focus of the blog -- And I've made sure each character has potential.  Yes, Silver is the one with the most screentime and development in the show, but they each have a unique story and a different perspective on the story they share.  I'd appreciate a little more love going their way.

That said, I'm closing the askbox until I get what I already have in there dealt with.  Thank you for understanding.

Mod: Holiday Madness

So, so sorry for missing the last two updates.  With all the end-of-semester crazies and the yuletide crazies, I've been a little run off my feet.  Things will be spotty again for awhile as a result.  But the bright side is, this may mean multiple updates a week!  Yaaay!  ^_^;

So yeah, sorry for this, but we're hitting the holiday-schedule, which is whenever-I-can-put-stuff-up.  Figured I owed you guys an explanation.

A Word from the Mod:

Wow!  My follower count has exploded ofer the past few days!  A week ago, there were nine ponies in the shop.  Now we've got twenty-five!  Thank you all so much.  As part of the celebrations, I'm parking the story and setting up a Q & A with Blank Slate, so the worldbuilding stuff can be comic posts instead of textposts.

Also, to continue the fun, I'm taking requests this week only.  These requests must not, under any circumstances, be NSFW or grimdark, or pointlessly gross.  Any request that is such will be ignored.

In other news, I've been getting a lot of asks about Diamond Tiara.  I have a story arc planned out involving her, but I'm not ready for it yet.  Please be patient; it's coming after the worldbuilding stuff.  Lots of character development for Silver.  It's gonna be great. ^_^
