Hey! Could you write sonething about a mortal finding out that their partner is a particularly nasty fae? Love the way your fae are folklore accurate, while still regaining complex relationships with their human (lovers). Thank you!
"You're..." Fear gripped the human's chest and twisted, mercilessly. "Shit."
"I'm shit? That's not a very nice thing to say, my love."
Their lover knew their name, of course, had done for months though they always used pet names. They'd give a very nasty, very dangerous fae their name. The human felt lightheaded.
"Oh, relax," the fae said, after a moment. They reached for the human, drawing them close. Their fingers kneaded at the tension cording the human's neck. "Didn't I tell you that I love you? You know I'm not a liar."
"The stories call you silver-tongued."
"Stories lie more than fairies do."
"So was it a lie? Yes or no."
The fae stuck out their literally not silver tongue, dragging it along the human's jaw and making them squirm, before gently nipping their neck. "I'm still the person you love. That you said you loved."
"I'm starting to think I didn't know that person. Because the person I loved would never - could never -" The human squeezed their eyes shut. A shudder run down their spine.
They could feel the fae watching them. They weren't sure what to brace for; the gentle and passionate lover they'd fallen for, or the mythic monster. The creature who had ripped apart families, whose rage legendarily led to cruel and creative punishment, who tolerated no betrayal.
Possibly the truth was somewhere in the middle. Complicated. But...
"What would you do to me if I broke up with you?" the human asked.
"You're frightened of me."
"Am I wrong to be?"
The fae was quiet. They stroked their fingers through the human's hair. "No," they said, at last. "I don't want you to be frightened of me, but you're not wrong. I know what I am. And I know all the ways I hid that for you. That I was...different for you."
"You are different with me," the human said. They leaned into their lover, wrapping an arm around them. It felt right. But..."You didn't answer my question."
"Hm?"
"What would you do to me if I broke up with you?"
"Are you breaking up with me?"
"Silver-tongue. You're evading."
"I don't know what I would do," the fae said. "I'd like to believe I'd let you go, let you walk away unscathed, because I love you. But I have lived long enough to know that love takes many forms, and so do I."
The human swallowed.
"Do you think you're going to stay frightened?" the fae asked. "I don't want you frightened."
"Then don't be frightening."
"I am frightening," the fae said. "That's what I am. That's what I really am. That's why I didn't tell you!"
"Don't yell at me!"
"I can't change my past," the fae said. "But in this lifetime, maybe I'm yours. Maybe that counts for something. I think that counts for something."
"And I think what you've done counts for something too."
"So people can't change?"
"Of course they can," the human said, "and fae can change like the seasons."
But the human suddenly wasn't remotely sure they'd prepared for how brutal the winter could be.
The fae let go of them, pulling back, and the human immediately missed the contact. They swayed closer but the fae stood up, stepped away.
"You're angry," the human said.
"Do I not have a right to emotions now? Is that too frightening for you?"
The human released a breath. "Of course you can have emotions. But so can I. And this is...hard. This is hard for both of us, right?"
"Are you breaking up with me?" the fae asked.
"No!" The human said, then hesitated.
The fae turned to look at them. The very air seemed to stop. No. Not seemed. The human could feel it in the air, an uncanny power, like spring could roll back into winter and flowers could bloom without light or water.
"No," the human said. "I...I just need some time. Space. To process."
"Do not lie to me, [Name]. Do not ever lie to me."
The human's breath hitched. The words tumbled out, tugged, impossible to disobey.
"Yes," they gasped. "Yes. Maybe, yes."
The fae's jaw clenched.
Betrayal sunk in. "...you used my name against me. You used your powers on me."
"And you," the fae said, "never loved me at all."
The human watched them walk away.
I know skk acts gay in every art but this one is so special to me. Chuuya is covering dazais injured side (he also covered Dazai's blind spot in the pm so this is clearly habit) Dazai grabbing chuuyas coat from the air omg, also after the skk vs steincraft fight dazai retrieves chuuyas hat and coat from the forest omgoshhhhh do you know how long that would have taken??
SO REALL, i love this fanart so much for exactly same reason!! Chuuya stopping bullets, dazai smirking knowing not a signle one will even graze him, giving chuuya his FULL TRUST
