The words didn’t really come as a surprise. She’d known that since her first night in Velaris alone, when Cassian and Azriel had shown up to keep an eye on her. When she’d asked Rhysand what the pair would do if she kicked them out of the house, he’d informed her they would likely spend their night perched on the roof, waiting for the sun to once again rise over their city when they could presume her safety was more guaranteed.
It seemed nothing had changed since then, and she had her suspicions that even when she one day reached the age of the three proclaimed brothers, Azriel would still act in such a fashion. Feyre wouldn’t lie and say it wasn’t appreciated. Besides, it was a nice change of pace to have someone looking after her, especially when compared to the years she’d spent hunting and providing for her older sisters and a father that hadn’t bothered to fight for their survival or hers. But that didn’t mean she wanted to see Azriel harmed or risking his life. Hadn’t he been through enough?

he'd considered himself rather fully. his lack of sleep, his ache, his demeanor ... his left, cold shoulder that shadows mor's retreating frame, even now. the closing remarks that'd stung his tongue and her back all the same. " hmf. " he huffs his rebuttal for he'd lost its worth in its first syllable. he had crossed a line; there was no denying it. —- " she'll put me on my ass for that later. " he'd apologize, given the chance to slow her retribution. until then ... he sits in the seat she'd left, before her forgotten breakfast spread, opposite feyre. —- " before then, i'd like to check in on your progress. " the glint in his eye is an honest one, despite the baiting wag of his brow. " any new powers? "
She couldn’t help but to gaze thoughtfully in Mor’s direction, watching as the golden-haired fae departed with little more than a word from the breakfast table. She wasn’t quite certain she could call Morrigan a friend yet, but the older fae had been nothing but kind to her since her arrival. And unlike Rhysand, Mor hadn’t made it a point to grate the last of her nerves or antagonize her at every given opportunity.
It was as if she could still feel the phantom cramps of her hand from the ridiculous number of times the High Lord of the Night Court had made her write ‘Rhysand is the most handsome High Lord.’ She would have liked to see Morrigan actually put Rhysand on his ass as he claimed, a fitting payback for the things he’d made her write.
Her attention shifts back to the High Lord as the question is directed at her. She notes the way he examines her, seeming genuinely curious in what she might have to report. Thus far, she’d created a shield of wind to defend herself against Tamlin’s outburst, Rhysand had coached her in how to protect her mind from other Daemati, and then there was….whatever she had created during her panic attack when she’d been locked in Tamlin’s home — a place that was supposed to be their home. A place she was supposed to have felt safe and protected, not caged like a locked up beast.
She shuddered at the thought, still not certain what exactly it was she’d created that day or how; she’d only heard the briefest explanation from Morrigan and Rhysand after she’d awoken.
“Nothing new, aside from whatever barricade I’d created before you sent Morrigan to retrieve me. Now that I am here….perhaps that will change?” Tamlin had insisted she tamp down that power and keep those abilities hidden, but during her visits to the Night Court, Rhysand had done the opposite. He’d told her she needed to train — to prepare. “Maybe you could help me figure them out.”
Violet: Can’t you at least try and look at things from my point of view?

He shrugged, but didn't say anything in an initial response, Xaden still striding towards the flight field. Both Tairn and Sgaeyl were on the other end, ready and waiting.
❝ Need to know, Violence. ❞ Xaden didn't even turn to look at her this time, and while yes, he could have told her a bit more details on where they were going, sometimes it was equally as fun not to say a thing.
To see her get all riled up.
Xaden scoffed at that, though, shaking his head. ❝ Actually, Sgaeyl might very well be just as amused as you sound at such a possibility, ❞ he mumbled, approaching his dragon. Sgaeyl gave a huff, almost like she was, indeed, agreeing with those words.
❝ Now. Come on. We're already late. ❞
“Of course it is, Wingleader,” came her grumbled retort as she gave him the most exaggerated eye roll she could offer, even if he hadn’t bothered to look back at her. She had come to expect as much by now — Xaden keeping his little secrets hidden in his shadows and only giving as much information as was absolutely necessary. She’d seen as much already, with the way he kept the meetings with the Marked Ones hidden but also kept her spying on said meeting hidden from them.
She had to quicken her pace to keep up with his longer strides, pulling down her flight goggles into place and making sure to give Sgaeyl a wide berth on her way to Tairn. There was no sign of Andarna, which was a relief since she didn’t want to pull the younger dragon into any unnecessary risks.
With another roll of her eyes, Violet began her ascent onto Tairn, the black morningstar tail having lowered his shoulder to make the climb easier. “Perhaps we wouldn’t be late if I was given more details on our mission!” she sniped, needing to get one final jab in on the shadow wielder.
“Lead the way, Riorson!”
It was bad enough to be in a place that felt alien to him. Bad enough to be somewhere so far from home that Shi doubted home could ever be found. But-- even if he wasn't a true sheikah, he still was one by blood, still knew how to be the best attendant he could be to any noble that needed protection. It meant it hadn't been that hard to find something that resembled employment, though he wasn't sure if he intended to stay. It was just something to do to help him feel grounded to the here and now.
And there was something so very... familiar about the woman wanting to stuff him into the dress, just to save herself the embarrassment of having to wear it.
"I'm surprised you don't have a wig." He muttered the words out, unsure if he was amused or annoyed by this turn of events. And, while his hair was practically the color of fresh snow, there were other ways that it could be dyed for the occasion.
He'd rather... not.
Still, the matter at hand - the dress. Shi found himself drawing in a deep breath before letting it out in a slow huff. With exaggerated movements he began to do as the woman asked, removing in own clothing as he stared almost helplessly at the ornate swatch of cloth that he was somehow supposed to be able to pull onto himself and look presentable in. Women wore this? Willingly?
"Is there a reason why?" She had mentioned sentries-- "Are people after you?"
In his defense, it was a bit surprising to her as well. Then again, she had a perfectly fine head full of hair, and the fae, with their ethereal beauty, weren’t exactly in need of such objects. They truly weren’t even needed for disguises, given there were many in Prythian that had the ability to utilize glamours.
If only that had been a gift she’d received when the High Lords had decided to save her life.
“Pointing out what I don’t have isn’t going to do us any favors right now, unless you can spin something together before someone notices I am taking too long,” she retorted, shooting him a look. She didn’t mean to be so testy, but perhaps the lack of sleep really was getting to her.
Eyes widened as the man began to undress, Feyre quickly spinning on the ball of her foot to turn away. At least she’d gotten enough control of her quicker speed and longer limbs by now that she could maneuver in a way that didn’t end in the destruction of another piece of furniture. Had she fallen just now, crashed into something, or knocked a piece of furniture over, surely someone would have come running to check on her.
