Hello followers! I bring good tidings and swell news—SP Secret Santa 2016 is all systems go!!
My name is Freda and I offered to take on the organization this year because I was sad it wasn’t going to happen, like I’m sure a lot of you were feeling as well. A massive and heart-felt thank you goes out to Natalie, Kate and Lora who organized the previous years. I will be making good use of all their advice and instructions!
I know it’s a bit late to get started as we are already in the middle of November, so gifts will quite possibly arrive after Christmas. But I’m sure you all know that Christmas doesn’t really end straight after December 25th—what about the traditional “Twelve Days of Christmas” and even New Years? I used to work night shifts at a store that stopped their holiday music promptly at midnight on the 25th (so terribly depressing!). But I’m telling you, the true Christmas spirit lives on much longer than that!! So I’m sure you or your Secret Santa won’t mind if your gift arrives after Christmas Day.
Here is all the info you need to get you started:
Secret Santa is a gift exchange between strangers to surprise each other for Christmas. Everyone who chooses to participate will send a gift to someone and will also receive a gift from someone else.
#1 To participate, you just have to send an e-mail to [email protected]. It should include your real name, address, age and Tumblr URL (if you don’t have Tumblr you can send your Twitter handle). This information will not be published anywhere, the only people that will get to know your address is me (obviously) and the person who will send you a gift.
#2 Deadline is going to be November 30! Once you’ve sent your e-mail you will get a confirmation e-mail back, if you don’t—let me know. I will put you on the list and select the matches at random.
#3 As of December 1st, I will start sending e-mails to everyone, telling them who they will have to choose a gift for. If you didn’t receive an e-mail by December 6—again, let me know (after you checked your junk mail).
#4 You can choose whichever gift you want to. It doesn’t have to be expensive, in fact, it doesn’t have to cost anything at all! You can also just make something yourself. Also, it doesn’t have to be Simple Plan related. Since you’ll get the Tumblr URL of the person, you could check their blog to see what they like. But PLEASE (!!) don’t reveal your identity to them! Of course you can add a letter when you send your gift and you can tell them your name and/or Tumblr URL, so that they can contact you afterwards, but it’s called Secret Santa for a reason, that’s why you shouldn’t ruin the fun beforehand. Afterwards it’s nice to give away your name so that the person who received the gift can tell you ‘thank you’ (and you might also want to thank your Secret Santa, of course).
#5 If you change your URL or your address—LET ME KNOW!
#6 Check your e-mails! I need to be able to contact you.
#7 If for some reason you are not able to participate, please tell me ASAP so that I can take you off the list and look for someone else who can send a gift to the person you were assigned to. If you just don’t send a gift someone will be very disappointed when they don’t get anything.
#8 Still have questions after reading this post? Go to my askbox!
So, if you want to participate (and you’re able to!), send me an e-mail at [email protected]!
Also—REBLOG! The more astronauts who participate, the more fun the whole thing will be. And just imagine how awesome it’ll be to have a gift from a person that lives across the world under your Christmas tree.
