Thanks to a nice email conversation with someone willing to talk me through it, I am happy to add Sint Maarten and Saint Martin as new and separate countries on the country list. :)
I know it probably seems to some people that I am quite ornery about the country list, but really it's just that I can't go adding countries willy-nilly. Geography isn't really my area, and a lot of the time people who complain to me about their country don't have any substance to their request and ignore me when I ask follow-up questions. 🤷
I just need someone to explain country things to me, because my time and energy need to go into the actual survey stuff as much as possible. If I'm totally unfamiliar with your country's politics and geography and sociology and whatnot, it will take me a long time and a lot of brain to fully research and understand the situation, and I still won't have the lived experience of your region, you know? So I just need a bit of help to work out what is the right thing to do.
The FAQ has info on how to get a country added to the country list, if that's something you want to attempt!
