Queer narratives presented by queer people matter cause sometimes people need to be able see themselves reflected in others.
I remember that one meme from a gendefluid user that resurfaced from the early 2010s and how it was one picture, one capture, that first made me feel connected to the queer community. Even though I had known about the lgbtqia+ before then. It took me years to reflect on my sexuality and gender identity- and all because it had first been presented to me by hetero cis people. They were the ones presenting it as otherness. As something outside of myself. Of course I struggled to understand that I was the one being othered.
